Tjeerd

Personality: Easy going and good natured.  Tjeerd is at his core kind hearted and optimistic even though he struggles at times, he does not believe people are inherently bad. He does know his stuff, but in general he’ll come off as simple due to a large lack of awareness. Tjeerd is someone who pursues fleeting pleasures while avoiding anything stressful, essentially running from his unpleasant past rather than confronting and solving it. He uses essentially laguz targeted drugs to cope with events he blames himself as they temporarily allow him to forget. Unfortunately it also means he has trouble remembering a lot of things.

 Backstory FE: Tjeerd was originally part of the hawk tribe's coastal defense. When Daltero's pirate factions began raiding more brazenly he fought back. In one raid the pirates snatched up his trainee, a hawk girl named Laguna, along with several civilians. Being worth far more than the civilians as a warhawk he traded himself for the freedom of the others. The pirates kept their word by some miracle and Tjeerd was kept under the northern forces as a combat laguz.

All laguz that the Northern pirates used were kept complicit and obedient through drug use and Tjeerd was no exception. Addiction kept him with the pirates, fighting his own kind when war broke out due to being so lost in it all. He would break free eventually but after it all the damage had been done. He had blood on his talons and the war was still going.
Tjeerd never returned home. He found his way to cat lands and was taken in by a small family of orphans trying to get by. For a few months he helped them get by, but eventually the alliance was calling for fighters and the oldest was being called to the field. This would leave the family in dire straights and so Tjeerd volunteered himself partly in hopes of finding redemption by fighting back against those that exploited him.
This went poorly, He was unable to return to the field, he eventually ended up deserting when pressed about it and fled in shame to human lands hiding in the desert. Moba desert was laguz friendly but also had a thriving though less potent drug trade. Tjeerd picked up his old addiction to a lesser degree and has been working since to find himself and the courage to return home. In the mean time he works as a scout for the local guard.
