The eldest of the last generation of the Valkyre family, Athrud was groomed from a young age to take over the parents' business. He did so without complaint or concern for nineteen years, at which point he suffered a severe breakdown and fled from the Valkyre estate. For the next half-decade or so, Athrud bounced from minimum wage job to job, couch to couch, bumming cigarettes off friends and occasionally visiting home for money and to see his younger siblings. Though he blames himself for the state that Arscay and Anima Astra ended up in, he doesn't regret leaving (despite thinking of it as selfish) and sees it as the best thing in his life.
The world all went to shit later, anyways. So what did it matter in the end?
