Ebb

Personality
Very outgoing and friendly! Ebb is a curious sort and will ask a lot of questions about anyone they meet; this might get annoying, but don't worry, they know not to push too hard. They don't take things too seriously, is very easygoing, and enjoys joking around. They love to cook and want to share their cooking with anyone they meet. In other words, Ebb WILL cook for you. They're very animated and emotive, often expressing their feelings with both their antennae and their four arms.

Ebb does have a hidden darkness that they rarely show, but when it comes time for deadly combat their demeanor shifts into that of a cold, quiet, and focused assassin.

History
Ebb grew up in a coastal city built around an enormous ruined tower, where the richest of the city lived within the tower's highest levels. As a poor orphan they had to get by through stealing and cheating, and managed to do pretty well for themself. At some point they stole from a certain someone who caught them in the act, but instead of punishment Ebb was invited to live with him. This man was a member of the Shadow Clan, a group of assassins with a hidden base in the city, and he saw promise in Ebb's skills. He had Ebb act as a scout for his clan, and in return they were given a stable safe place to live. As Ebb proved their worth they began to receive more specific training, and eventually became a full-fledged assassin and Shade.

Things took a bad turn when an assassination attempt went horribly wrong. In the Shadow Clan, failing to kill a target is punishable by death, and so Ebb wound up in the bowels of the city, gravely wounded and left for dead. They figured this was it for them and embraced their death, only to be found by an old man missing all fingers but the thumb on his left hand. He took Ebb to his humble home and gradually nursed them back to health, never once asking how they wound up in such a dire situation. The man was a chef and a popular street vendor in the lower city, and as Ebb recovered they slowly learned how to cook from him. Moved by his kindness, Ebb decided to take up his profession as their own and become a cook. Since they could not stay in the city any longer without risk of being killed, Ebb left to travel the world, learn more about cooking, and make a name for themself as a chef.

Abilities

• Ebb's good at cooking! Their speciality is fried rice, but they've got plenty of recipes up their oversized sleeves.
• As a trained Shade, Ebb's shadow is animate, and they can use it to fight or to do more mundane things (like food prep). Ebb also has the ability to slip into their shadow to move short distances, which gives the impression of teleporting.
• Ebb has a lot of skills in throwing knives and carries a lot of knives under their kimono. Don't worry about it.
