Backstory
In this universe, random powers, (not based on genetic or personality) are gifted to 3 out of 5 babies who are born. These powers can be as simple as flight or as complicated as mind-reading. There are special tutors and doctors who help to control each special power, some more common than others, and some completely unique, (though usually, the unique ones are pretty useless.) It can take 1-20 years to discover a power, and some people show subtle signs of one before they fully discover it. (Think Harry Potter.) There has also been a tedious war going on between kingdoms, for reasons such as claiming the territory as well as a want for rare resources found in different regions (and drama!) Princess Estella, born under the royal family of Casilla, one of the largest kingdoms on the planet, grew for the first few years of her life in an ideal family, it seemed. Kind parents, anything she ever wanted. However, when her two younger sisters were born, she was completely and utterly rejected. Her parents fawned over the twin girls, especially the eldest one (the one who came out first, lol), Raven. Stella grew a bit bitter towards her parents and the two girls, the neglection coming all at once. Nonetheless, she followed their rules and still loved them. When her younger brother Ezra came along a few years later, she started to see the pattern. Robin, the younger twin, didn't show any sign of magical power. When Raven developed flight powers at the age of 6, Robin was neglected just as Stella was. Stella grew more and more of a hatred for her parents and their politics and sympathized with Robin. What disgusted her the most, however, was when she was about to turn 17, she tripped on a bump in the rug after having a heated argument with her siblings, and shot a burst of colorful flame across the hall, before it fizzled into waves in midair. Her parents were ecstatic and took her in again like no time had passed between her childhood and now. She understood now. They only cared if she had magic because that was useful to them. What was even more interesting, was the power she had: celestial. No one had ever seen it before, and the fact that it was so powerful made people very curious about it. Stella felt like she was naked in public whenever someone brought it up. When she was 17, she met a knight of the Royal Guard named Noah. They started hanging out secretly and eventually became romantic and sappy. They, of course, kept it very secretive, due to the consequences they might face. Stella loved the feeling of rebelling and thought it good revenge against her parents. However, one day, she was called to the throne room and exposed for her affair. She was completely shocked, and she didn't know how they found out. It couldn't have been Noah! As punishment, she was to be engaged to a Prince of another kingdom. Noah was to be hanged. She was heartbroken. She dug up some money and went racing out of the castle the next night. After walking in a desert, she met a certain man...
