A wandering traveler born of a man possessed by a Kitsune and a woman from a brothel in the Edo Period in Japan. His mother was horrified to find herself pregnant after their her one-night stand with the seductive man that arrived as quickly as he left, and even more horrified after she gave birth to some sort of strange, fox-human... thing. For one, the child had skin with a slight purple-ish tint. Strange, but faint enough to be ignored. What really set the woman off was his silver hair and the silver pair of ears and a fox-like tail that sprung from his bosom. Kit's mother quickly connected the dots together and realized she had given birth to a Hanyō: a half-human, half-yokai hybrid. Due to his ears and tail, she quickly concluded that the mysterious man that made her pregnant was some sort of Kitsune, and concluded that her child must be half-Kitsune. Therefore, she named her child Kit: short for Kitsune, and later on he would find out it would coincidentally also be the term for a baby fox in English. 

While the woman certainly didn't enjoy this sudden turn of events, she didn't abandon the child outright. Children born from the brothels were usually dumped in orphanages and their mothers usually kicked out. After all, no brothel wanted to keep a pregnant woman that wouldn't be able to serve a man for a whole 9 months. Fortunately, the brothel Kit's mother worked at was kind enough to offer shelter for the first two months of pregnancy and would take the woman back after she gave birth. To their surprise, Kit's mother gave birth (in private) at a mere three months, probably due to Kit's half-fox heritage. Kit's mother was able to explain away the purple-ish skin and silver hair as a side-effect of coming out prematurely and hid Kit's ears and tail for the first few months, but the curious ladies of the brothel soon found out. Kit's mother came out clean, and Kit was able to live a happy but secluded childhood in the upstairs of the brothel, away from sight. When he was old enough to walk and understand the world around him was different than he was, he was allowed out as long as he wore a scarf to cover his skin and a rice hat to cover his ears. When it was too hot for Kit to walk around outside without people questioning his warm apparel he would stay put in the brothel, playing with the women he considered to be his aunts and older sisters during the day and help with cleaning and other trivial chores during the night. 

Kit was a very curious child as well as a fast learner. Curious of the world, people, and animals around him, as well as curious about his heritage.  And while he was not able to change the color of his skin and hair or hide away his ears, he was able to learn how to make his tail "dissapear" by himself, after being told that Kitsune's were known for their shapeshifting. While he loved observing the busy crowds from high places, he found himself flustered when he tried to talk with anyone he wasn't familiar with. He taught himself to read using a few discarded scrolls about yokai and committed everything he learned about them to memory. He decided once he grew up, he would travel the world the learn more about people and yokai alike and possibly - just possibly - find his father. 

Kit assumed that he would hit puberty in his early teens and be considered an adult after that. If anything, he thought it would be more likely for him to hit it even quicker than his same-aged peers. After all, he was born 6 months early. Unfortunately, while his birth might've been quick, it took his body a long time to mature: probably to make up for a yokai's naturally long lifespan. He was already quite short compared to his peers before puberty, but once the hormones kicked in he found them to be a good foot taller than him. His body finally showed signs of rapid growth once he turned 18, which both embarrassed and delaying his plans greatly. Not that it'd matter in the long run, as he soon found out that once he was in his 20s he stopped aging altogether, giving him an indefinite lifespan.

Kit has been travelling for approximately 300-400 years, and while he is a great deal wiser than when he was when he was but a mere boy living in the upstairs of a brothel, his personality is almost unchanged: eager to learn, shy, polite, and always ready to give a helping hand: even if some do not appreciate it because of his appearance.
