The Merchant Queen

Kubra was born as the first legitimate heir to the Ilkonu throne. Assumes male at birth, she wore her title as 'prince' akwardly and quickly relinquished her claim to the throne over to her younger brother as soon as she realized it was possible to do so. In passing up her future as Ilkonu's king, Kubra turned her efforts to becoming the royal archmage. Her tutliage in spellweaving came from Theophilos, and Kubra proved to be a fast learner under his instruction. It is also mentioned that Theo was the one who rewove Kubra's threads, granting her the biology she was intended to have from birth.

It is commonly understood that Kubra played a role in the uprising of the dragons, which plunged the kingdom into a 'post-magic' era, but no one is clear on the details of it. Regardless, it appears to have caused a rift between her and her tutor-turned-lover, Theo. After retreating to the lawless port city of Mahdaşa, where Kubra asserted herself as the Merchant Queen and has baracaded herself away from the consiquences of Ilkonu law, she is sorely displeased to see Theo within her city walls some 14 years later.
