Lydia

Once the familiar to an ancient witch who would summon herself familiars only to take their bodies when hers became too old and decayed. Lydia's fate would have been that of those that came before her were it not for the night a mob came and dragged out the witch to burn at the stake. Due to the magical experiments the witch conducted on her to make her the perfect vessel, Lydia did not fade away when the witch was killed. Instead she was left to live and continue growing until the night the mob returned for her and she too was dragged out from the only home she ever knew to be burned at the stake.

Unlike the witch, Lydia did not die. A nature spirit that had taken a liking to Lydia and once the mob had dispersed it brought her back to life. From that day, a cycle seemed to develop. Lydia left the forest with the nature spirit following close behind. She would find a place to settle and for a time everything was fine - until people became aware of a 'witch' living out in the woods. Then she would be taken from her home and burned, only to be revived once more by the spirit and then they would leave.

This cycle continued until Lydia eventually discovered a way to create a little paradise for just herself and the nature spirit. She made a small pocket dimension that would later grow larger, becoming filled by other small fae or woodland critters. Lydia rarely leaves her sanctuary, too afraid of the people outside to show herself - but there are instances where her curiosity beats her fear and she leaves for short periods to explore.
