Auran is the off-spring of an Ouroboros, the creature who eats its own tail in a never ending cycle, a being often associated with Alchemy since it represents the ever-transforming matter all around us, as well as immortality, the eternal return, and more... Something I can relate to.

  • Au = Aurum (Gold), for my virtues...
  • Ra = Radium, for my vices...
  • N = Nitrogen, for the usually introvert yet sometimes "explosive" personality.

Auran is 1,80m tall, with a long, prehensile tail that is 3m long. The tail of an ouroboros keeps growing throughout their entire life, so much so that as the limbs get weak with age, some ancient ouroboroses may even forgo walking completely and move by slithering on their ever-growing tail instead.
He can flicker and extend his forked tongue outwards up to 30cm. An Ouroboros has full control over their digestive system: he can thus use his stomach as "internal storage" to trap things, friends and foes alike since his insides are much bigger than what can be seen from outside, and can swallow anything that is approximately his own size. If he ingests a creature, he can absorb it to gain a similar shape and some of its abilities, until he reforms and safely expels said creature from his body.

I suffered from a bad case of appendicitis IRL, hence the scar on Auran's abdomen.
But no one else really knows how he actually got it... some even speculate that he sacrificed a part of himself to create his female companion Agnes with alchemy...

Additionally, any ourboros can alter their body when exposed to the pure essence of an alchemical element, adapting to it and gaining new abilities for up to a day, or for as long as they remain exposed to that element. Many ouroboroses strive to discover and unlock all their hidden elemental forms: they believe that only after experiencing all possible alchemical combinations within themselves they can become one with the universe and ascend to a higher self...
