Backstory

Lacey's parents came from very different worlds, her mother Adalene being from a high class Parisian family and her father Léon from a lower class family in Dunkirk. Adalene was an only child, pampered and spoilt for most of her life, while she never needed to work she became a head chef in a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Paris. Léon was the youngest of four children and taught in a rough school on the outskirts of Dunkirk, his town never fully recovering from the impact Second World War. 

When her parents met for the first time, Léon was instantly smitten with her, for her grace, beauty and talent. Adalene was intrigued by him, Léon being unlike any other man she had ever met before. They started dating in secret, knowing Adalene's family would be disapproving. When she fell pregnant with Lacey, they finally had to come clean. Her parents ashamed of her cut her out of the fortune and Adalene had to move in with Léon.

They moved to Nice after the birth of their daughter and raised her without the help of Lacey's grandparent's fortune. Her mother worked extra shifts for money and her father worked part time so he could care for their young child. Lacey from a young age had be in love with dance and joined a ballet class, her parents being sure she'd grow out of it at some stage. This was not the case for Lacey, with dancing becoming her safe haven and biggest passion. Her father was disapproving, thinking she was wasting her time but her mother was supportive, remembering how much she would have liked the same support from her own mother all those years ago.

After graduating high school, Lacey began teaching at a local ballet school, helping young students learn how to dance. At weekends she herself learnt more and more, putting on performances in her local theatre. She hopes one day to be good enough to join the Royal Ballet School in England.
