Shenla is the chosen of Quercus, god of plants. As Its chosen, she was blessed with tremendous power over trees and flowers and, until her death, was the only person in the world who could fully use Quercus's relic, the Root of Quercus.
Shortly prior to the beginning of the story, she had a fateful encounter with the Harmonian Cult member known as Kazimir Drosta, who used his enchanted dagger to kill Shenla and steal her powers for himself. As she died, she called out to Quercus, who mercifully transformed her into a flower spirit, but was unable to fully restore her powers.

Caine [ Friends ]
Caine is one of the last remaining people dwelling within Mystraveil Forest capable of seeing her. She did not know him well during her life as a mortal, but as a flower spirit she came to watch over him and understand the reason behind his demeanor and his way of life.
Kazimir Drosta [ Killer ]
Shenla made the mistake of crossing paths with Kazimir after the death of his sister, Marzanna. Due to her strong resemblance to his sister, her very presence angered him and he took her life and her power as a plant mage with a far greater amount of malice and anger.
Myrinne Haley-Yuan [ Complicated Alliance ]
Shenla was asked by the spirit of Damon Haley-Yuan to offer guidance to Myrinne, since Damon could not himself. However, Myrinne is still affected by her grief over Damon's death and struggles with directing her grief-fueled anger at Shenla because she feels that Shenla holds a special position that Damon deserved, too. Despite this, Shenla tries to keep her word to Damon and offers comfort and support to the grieving woman.
