The nocturnal among the Miqo'te have dubbed themselves the Keepers of the Moon. Shying from the garish light of day, they revel in the shroud of night, with most offering their piety to Menphina the Lover, goddess of the moon. Their tradition of hunting in the thick woodlands of the Black Shroud have for years thrown them into conflict with the forestfolk of Gridania, who condemn them as poachers. Of late, however, many Keepers of the Moon have found some small peace with the Gridanians, and taken to living within the city.
Aria’ya’s tribe, though central to the Black Shroud, have recently found themselves moving towards the desert city of Ul’dah, instead. They are travelling songstresses and performers; those who cannot sing, dance instead; and as such, all females in the tribe carry names relating to song; some examples being Sonnet, Melody, and Aria. It is thought that, at one time, they carried more traditional Miqo’te names and that their musical monikers were only for show; but it seems as the generations carried on, the females of the tribe did away with traditional names all together, carrying on only the usual means of naming their sons.
