ryuji is a bubbly, fun, and lively guy. he enjoys talking, exploring, and of course his occupation. he's quite social and knows how to get what he wants. nonetheless, he's a good boy and genuinely likes most company. he is, however, without bounds. ryuji wasn't born with any parental figure, so he pretty much raised himself. he feels greatly in debt to those who've provided him shelter, or have paid him great deals for his incredible care - to the extent that he feels that he should give just about anything for. ryuji is a good listener and is incredibly intelligent.
ryuji was born deep inside of the ocean's crest in a glass egg. he's rumored to be a sea dragon, but it's actuality that he was born of sea beast and man - a sailor who was entranced by a siren beast. it would seem that he was left to fend for himself, however, and as unforgiving as the deepest of seas are, ryuji managed.
the boy lived most of his life in the sea, making friends with other creatures of the deep, such as mermaids and other sentient beings. as curiosity would have it, ryuji decided to visit land - he had the capability, after all, and his lungs adapted quickly to human land. he was always sure to stay close to water sources, however, as he couldn't risk drying out and eventually dying.
despite his appearance, ryuji was taken in by a man who realized he was homeless and, well, a freak of nature to the human world. as ryuji was clearly not a threat and ultimately a good boy, the man decided to teach the young boy about the arts of being a doctor. ryuji had became quite acquainted with this man, who called himself esther. they became wonderful friends.
as the years passed, ryuji had made the routine of returning to the sea and then to land, til he met a man with a similar situation as him; except this person bore tentacles and gills instead of pigmentation and scales.
hearing of ryuji's incredible doctoring skills as well as needing someone who wasn't quite so human, the man, known as orachi, took him along to live with him as his own personal doctor.
ryuji lives contently in his care, and when he's not tending to him or performing surgical catastrophes on victims, he lives a free-spirited life.
ryuji doesn't quite understand how these surgeries are inhumane, and considers it that he's doing a favor for his boss and that's that.
-ryuji is bilingual. he speaks the tongue of the sea as well as what landfolk speak.
-ryuji has a forked tongue.
-ryuji has no sense of fashion and just wears what's comfortable - he wears SUPER baggy clothes so it doesn't scrape on his gills.
-ryuji is panromantic/pansexual/polyamorous.
-ryuji's of asian descent.
-truly thinks his mask/eye cover is fashionable. claims to wear it to not get sand in his eyes, but wears it even out of the water. considered a comfort item.
-ryuji loves small things and small animals! seems especially interested in birds.
-ryuji has sharp fangs, and three sets of them if any of them happen to fall out or break.
-ryuji was finally named when esther found him. he decided to call him ryuji, as it represents the japanese sea dragon god, ryujin.
-ryuji's first name was "adothie".
