Miya (愛) or Kikkawa Miyasudokoro or rather as she is forever remembered in history as Lady Myōkyū (妙玖) is a princess from the Kikkawa clan as the daughter of Kikkawa Kunitsune and ofc the niece of Amago Tsunehisa.

Miya is the wife of Mōri Motonari and the mother of Mōri Takamoto, Kikkawa Motoharu, Kobayakawa Takakage, Goryū No Tsubone and Oborozukiyo.

Though their marriage was an arranged one, Motonari and Miya have known each other since childhood but would fall in love with each other over time with Miya crushing on him at the age of 5, while he fell for her when he was 21 and she was 19.

Miya's earlier years were pretty troubling as she had to endure trauma in witnessing Tsunehisa's cruelty towards civilians despite not being a victim of his.

She would meet Shōjumaru for the first time after she wandered off from the castle she and her family were staying in with the purpose that she heard a soft sounding voice from the nearby forest when he saved her from being nearly run over by Tsunehisa.

Things would get better for her for a time when the Kikkawa relocated to Aki as she would finally be relieved of baring witness to seeing the atrocities committed by the Amago.

Over time, Miya and Shōjumaru would meet each other from time to time especially after the death of Shōjumaru's biological mother Lady Fukubara.

Though things would get better for Miya, sad times would return when her mother Lady Takahashi passed on.

It was during this time, Miya would be selected to become a priestess of the Itsukushima Shrine as under Sue Harukata's request, as only the most beautiful women from Aki would be accepted to serve as Shrine maidens of Susanoo's three daughters from which Itsukushima Shrine housed.

It was very hard for her as she always looked to those she is close to in order to find comfort in, and she would be separated from them for quite some time.

Shōjumaru being only 18 at the time grew very concerned for Miya's emotional well being that he would go to visit her on a daily basis and at first without his older brother Okimoto's knowledge since during then, Okimoto was leading the Mōri clan and Shōjumaru was made a bodyguard for him.

Okimoto eventually would find out Miya's and Shōjumaru's situation as Miya was already depressed from not only her mother's passing but being separated from her family.

Okimoto wasn't angered by his younger brother traveling such a long distance just to makesure Miya was okay, and instead allowed him to visit her on a daily basis.

During Shōjumaru's visits, and when Miya wasn't busy with what she was required to do as a shrine maiden. Shōjumaru would comfort her and the two would speak to each other.
