Alder Callosum's Links
He's afraid of his sister, who likes to verbally and emotionally abuse him (and everyone else in proximity) - up until the day he's finally had enough.
Mistaking Amaranth's complicated feelings surrounding his color for general disdain, Alder has developed bitter feelings toward his golden mother, thinking her cold and callous. He can't understand what Valeska sees in her - or why no one seems willing to talk about it.
Him. I am trying to learn that he not what he seems - that he is more than a ghost of the past.
Though she may possess some rather peculiar hobbies, Alder can, at the very least, appreciate Sreda's complete and total neutrality regarding all life on earth regardless of color. Who can blame her? After all - everyone's skeletons look the same underneath.
The Red Shadow.
Alder, like the rest of his siblings, views Dimitri as something of a suck-up to their mother Valeska - especially being the heir apparent. What bond they do have is based primarily around them being the only males in their litter, and as such ought to stick together to some degree, even if Dimitri is prone to his own fits of anxiety.
While Valeska isn't cruel like his other mother, Amaranth, she still has her own issues - she's easily distracted and seems far too preoccupied with shepherding Dimitri and organizing parties, and has a tendency to overlook trouble brewing within her own home. Also, she talks too much.
I did not recognize the significance of your red fur until it was too late. Although I still tried to shield you from Amaranth's ire and the memory of her past, the damage was done, and you have gone your own way - wherever you go, be well, my son.
Out of all his siblings, Alder likes Narcissa the most. She's always been a gentle presence in their lives, often helping to diffuse heated situations and being just about the only voice of reason within the Callosum ranks - he doesn't know it yet, but she holds her own strong opinions regarding the family.
There is a part of Narcissa that believes Alder's soul is much like her own. She sees more than what he thinks and she only hopes that he will feel like he is more than his fur. Narcissa believes him to be worthy and strong, a kind boy who will be an even better man. She loves him dearly.
