Profile
01 — profile
she is a direct mixture of her parents. her father is a brown tabico, and her mother is a ginger tabby. her mother has green eyes and her father has blue eyes, so geckopaw ended up with both.
her paw pads are splotched with a dark gray color.
her chest and cheek fur is very soft and fluffy, but because of this, thorns and loose leaves will sometimes get caught on her fur while she’s on patrol. she hates appearing dirty, so she always makes sure to get everything out before returning to camp.
her teeth are perfectly white, surprisingly.
she has a plume-like tail, which she uses to emphasize emotion if she’s talking to someone.
02 — personality
gecko is a rebellious, goofy soul who is always curious and wants to go on adventures with her clan. she really loves gatherings, because she is able to talk to cats outside her clan, and is able to exchange stories and stuff. she doesn’t enjoy arguing with others, but she can and will defend herself if she needs to.
gecko wasn’t always like this, though. during the early moons of her apprenticeship, she was shy and nervous, not wanting to disappoint her mentor even though she was new to everything. because she was quiet, gecko became a target for the generation’s bully. mud constantly made fun of the other hunter trainees, but she especially bullied gecko. gecko felt like she couldn’t stand up to mud because she was scared of being humiliated.>
one of the other hunter trainees, tree, saw mud beating down on gecko while poor gecko was just trying to eat lunch, and tree was completely over the attitude. tree stepped in, defending gecko and completely embarrassing mud in front of the other hunter trainees, who were also eating nearby. gecko and tree became best friends after that event, and gecko gained confidence once she saw that she could stand up for herself, like tree had. gecko told her siblings, hazel and mangrove, about the event and hazel expressed her admiration for tree to her siblings.
hazel always went out of her way to get on the same patrols as tree, and she told gecko she had begun to develop feelings for tree. gecko was disgusted by the information, not because that was her sister and best friend, but because gecko had a crush on tree herself. tree would definitely choose gecko over hazel, but tree isn’t very observant, so she isn’t aware of either of the sisters crushes on her lmao

04 — trivia
gecko is the youngest of her sibling trio, but she is not the runt. she is more of a middle child than anything.
gecko is a gemini, and her curiosity very much aligns with her sign, although she doesn’t have the split personality geminis are usually stereotyped with.
she knows tree isn’t picking up on her feelings, so gecko has begun to drop more obvious hints, though she isn’t sure if tree will notice those either.
she loves playing with the kits in the nursery, especially moss ball. the kits love to follow gecko around and they always look forward to her visits.
05 — relationships
father
shardsoil is a very kind, loving father who supports his children in everything they do. he is a hunter, and is proud of gecko and mangrove for following in his footsteps, tho he is also proud of hazel for breaking off to become a fighter trainee and do her own thing. he likes catching up with his kids every so often to hear what they’ve been up to and how their training is going, plus he likes to hear little tidbits of the trainee drama going on, it makes him feel younger again.
he sorta suspects gecko’s feelings for tree based off how she talks about her bsf during their occasional chats. he doesn’t say anything abt his suspicions outright, but he tries to drop subtle hints to gecko, trying to let her know that he supports her feelings if she ever wants to tell her father abt them, or ask for advice. he isn’t sure if gecko is picking up on them, but he loves her either way.
mother
ginger is a sweet, quiet molly who is usually seen with a friendly, warm smile on her face. she has anxiety, though she hid it rlly well when she was younger and has sort of forced herself to push past it. she confided in shardsoil about it, and he helped her work thru her feelings and that’s when she realized she was truly head over heels for the tom.
unfortunately, mangrove and gecko were both affected by her anxiety and just overall nervous nature, tho gecko found herself and was able to push past those feelings as she got older. mangrove on the other hand just sort of embraced it and hasn’t changed much in that aspect. ginger is very loving towards all of her kids and especially her mate.
sister
hazel is a sort of clueless loudmouth, who is pretty nonobservant. she “confides” in her sister, gecko, about her feelings for tree, which aren’t necessarily real if we’re being honest. hazel has fallen in love with the idea of tree being a sort of hero, after gecko excitedly told her family abt tree standing up for her. hazel began to hang out with tree as much as possible, trying to get closer with her, but it isn't working exactly as hazel wants it to.
hazel constantly asks her sister, who is besties w tree, if tree has mentioned her at all, and ofc gecko says no, bc tree pays no attention to who is on patrol with her unless it's one of her family members, or gecko. gecko feels pride in herself for being bsfs with tree instead of hazel, and although the two sisters are both falling for tree, gecko is obviously more in tree’s line of sight for a future together, which makes hazel more desperate to catch tree’s attention.
brother
mangrove is a skittish, nervous little guy, and although he is the middle child, he acts and looks like the runt of the three. he and gecko are the closest out of the three, and he enjoys talking to his younger sister late at night or if they get put on patrol together occasionally. he can tell, just like his father can, that gecko has started falling for tree, but he doesn’t want to mention anything to her. he’s just happy that gecko has finally found someone she truly enjoys being around.
mangrove is close friends with coal and berry, mostly because they are all similar in size and age. he thinks berry is very pretty, and coal is the coolest person he knows, but he finds he is genuinely attracted neither of them. mangrove is a little confused on the fact he finds nobody in his clan attractive, so he’s questioning his sexuality at the beginning of the story. although, he hasn’t been to any gatherings yet, so he hasn’t seen any other clan cats..
best friend/crush
tree is a lovable, loyal and fluffy gal who would do anything for gecko. although she doesn’t realize it, she has fallen massively in love with her best friend. gecko and tree are very close, and always hang out whenever they can. their mentors quickly discovered this, so the two are able to go on patrols and train together often. tree really enjoys spending time with gecko, and sometimes quick flashes of something more than friendship will cloud her mind.
their friendship started when tree stood up for gecko against mud and her bullying, and it just blossomed from there. the whole tribe recognizes the two as peas in a pod, which tree finds funny. some of their tribemates alr think they are together as more than friends, though no rumors have started circulating yet. tree sort of recognizes that hazel has feelings for her, but she doesn’t reciprocate those feelings at all, so she just ignores it and plays dumb.
