EVY

Evy is part of a group of magical shapeshifters who take the form of owls. Her species mission is to find humans to take care of, they see this as part of their holy destiny, to be protectors of humanity. Back in the past her family was numerous, and they were venerated in many cultures due to their benevolent and selfless nature. After millenia have passed, they began to become extinct, often having to hide for long periods of time due to humans hunting them down for profit. They still keep their bow to help humanity and among the youngest owls are selected to find humans to become their companions.

Evy always showed to be rebellious and not care much for her species' role. She knew that as soon as she turned 18, she would be eligible to be sent to find a human and protect them, which includes giving up their life if necessary. But Evy knows she isn't made for that, she wants to live for herself, not for another person. As determined as she is, she is also very naive, partly due to being so young. She decided to escape, but the only place she thought she could hide was among the humans. Her species live secluded in the woods, safe from the people's eyes, and many of them have never seen what the cities looks like.

After she flew away, her family sent a group of explorers to find her, but not even the most experienced one could be prepared for what they could encounter. Evy flew as far as she could until she was too exhausted to continue. She decided to rest, and stopped in the suburbs of some town. She found the window of a house open, and went inside the bedroom. She was found by a young boy who, amazed by the presence and the beauty of the owl inside his room, offered the bird some water. Evy wanted to thank his generosity, but in order to speak to him, she shapeshifted into her humanoid form. After that, everything took a rapid turn of events, for both of them.
