STORY

The nameless kitten stumbled into Clan territory after fleeing the Monster that had held him for so long. He had been running for what felt like moons, his fur matted and stained with mud as the sun set over the grasslands that he'd found himself in. Finally, he collapsed too exhausted to continue. But the stars were smiling on him that fateful evening as a StreamClan patrol found him.

When he awoke he found himself in a strange place, so different from the cramped and grubby Twoleg den that he'd grown up in. The scruffy tom who lived there told him he was safe. He was in StreamClan, one of the four Clans in the area and the cat he was speaking to was the Clan's Medic, Tornwing. The kitten made himself at home in the den, eagerly asking Tornwing questions that he was more than happy to answer. By the time another cat entered the den, the kitten already knew that he wanted to stay in StreamClan.

Fogstar awed the kitten from the moment he met her. He begged her for a place in her Clan and the leader happily allowed him to join, giving him the name Badger until she and her Clan decided on a course of action. Finally with a name and rapidly recovering, Badger easily began befriending other cats around the camp, especially Tidalkit, Fledgestorm, Cloudshine and Jackdawfrost. Soon the day came when he was accepted fully into StreamClan, earning the name Badgerpaw and becoming Fogstar's Apprentice.

For a moon he was shared the Apprentice's den with Burningpaw and Leafpaw. While training with the two older Apprentices, Burningpaw's mentor, Falcontalon, gave him a very bad gut feeling. Something about the way the tom spoke to the Clan's mollie's, especially the elder, Ripplegaze, really put him on edge. As if a deep knowledge that had been hiding in his mind was warning him.

Finally, Tidalpaw and Splashpaw joined him in the Apprentice's den while Alderpaw went to the Medic's den as Tornwing's Apprentice. With Tidalpaw sharing his distrust of Falcontalon, the two began seeking out other cats who were also nervous of the tom, including Tidalpaw's friend , Azurefrost, and a LakeClan Apprentice named Darkpaw.
