Profile

Peony Miller is a curious child. Like many of the residents around Pitchwell, she showed up mysteriously one day and everyone in the town just accepted it. By all means, nobody has a reason to dislike her; she is a sweet young girl who greets everyone in the town every day she stops by, running around jubilantly and talking at length to anyone who will listen, usually about plants. She comes dressed in a variety of outfits in bright, garish colors fit for someone of her nature, and is never seen without a wide straw hat adorned with whichever flower she chose that day. The only reason anyone has to be wary of her is the place she lives: House Morgrell, an ever-present mansion on the edge of civilization.

As whimsical as she is, there is no doubt that the enigmata of the mansion is present on her. Her love of gardening has led her to frequently bring the plants she has grown to the village, but these plants frequently come in odd colors and shapes, cultivated in ways that feel far beyond the capabilities of someone so young. Some accuse them of being hexed, which may not be so judgmental with how lively some seem. Some residents keep their doors barred out of fear of these, though Peony takes no offense; she is just happy to share with those who will listen.

Peony arrives at the village much more frequently than her "caretaker", Domino, though the two will arrive together on occasion. The stoic head maid shows a bit more of herself when with the small dog, though this is accompanied by her keeping a strict eye on anyone who approaches her. Peony talks more about House Morgrell that the maid, though her limited perspective still leaves many questions unanswered.

Among the strangest yet most innocuous things about Peony is the discolored pink mark on her left leg. The most studied and superstitious of Pitchwell associate this with the birthmark of Corso, a high-standing yet secretive aristocratic family of the country. Many pass this off as coincidence given how far the Corso residence is from Pitchwell, thought it is still odd that, when the topic was brough up once within her earshot, Peony turned away quickly and left town much earlier than she usually does on most days.
