Eda is a shy squid coming to the big city after living most of his life in the countryside.
His family is very poor and he's being the first one in the whole family to be able to study in college. Unlike most college students, Eda's parents don't pay for his college as they don't have the money. Eda pays by himself with the little money he gets monthly from his job in telemarketing. Still, money is very short and his job is tough and exhausting.
He's very intelligent and keeps his grades high, which makes it easier to stay in college but he's running out of money quick.

In his second year of college, the directors change and there's an adjustment on how much the students should pay monthly, which is even more expensive. Eda, in panic, states he won't be able to pay that amount monthly but the new directors don't seem to care.
His friends try to help him donating some money but he doesn't want to depend on his friends forever. That's when a very popular student in his college, seeing his situation, asks him if he'd like to play ink battles for extra cash. At first he's doubtful about it, but after he plays splatfest with her and another friend, he quickly discovers his enjoyment for the ink battles.
