Overview

Penelope "Penny" Wexler is a junior film student studying at the Los Angeles Institute of Art. Though she's only a student and hasn't gotten much recogniton under her belt, she dreams of making it big in the film industry, writing and producing her dream movie, Disturbia. More importantly, she wants to get to a point where she can financially support both herself and her family back home. Penny's a unique person for sure, if her eclectic fashion sense is any indication. She's not a celebrity by any means, but she's easily recognized by other LAIA students thanks to her done-up hair and dark clothes. She has a love for horror and all things morbid, an interest that is reflected in her art. Despite her passion for the craft, Penny struggles to find an audience for her work, and finds it hard to stay confident when no one seems to enjoy the films she works so hard to make. Penny has a lot on her plate; she balances school at day with a graveyard shift at work, and financial stress weighs on her more and more as time goes on. It's a lot for one person to handle, and unfortunately it's threatening to make her dreams fall through.

Penny's a creative type, as one might expect from an art student. She's clever, a bit quirky, and resourceful. She's pretty reserved, far preferring her own company and small gatherings over big parties. Penny's quiet and mellow, and generally relaxed, though her somewhat standoffish demeanor can mistakenly come off as intimidating or unfriendly. She's a nice person, and treats others with respect. She's deeply caring towards her loved ones, especially her parents and siblings. Penny is not at all opposed to making friends; certainly, she'd like to make more, but she has a bad habit of getting absorbed in her thoughts and her work instead of other people. Though generally nice and quiet, she's not without her moments. Her manner of speech is quite blunt, both to friends and strangers. She can be snippy and sarcastic, and is prone to affectionately teasing people she likes. Penny doesn't have a quick temper, but her anger is quite fiery when she's pushed to that point. She tries not to get bogged down by sadness, and copes by throwing herself into her work even harder as a distraction. As one can probably imagine, when under stress, Penny becomes highly productive, but highly distant, too. This becomes the norm for her as her college education continues, at least until she finds an unlikely friendship in the movie star Roxanne Hartnell.

History

Penny was the firstborn child to the Wexler family, and eventually the oldest of four, and only daughter. She spent all of her childhood in a small town in Northern California, a childhood that was relatively normal. Her family struggled financially throughout her whole life, but her parents were able to make ends meet and provide a loving and stable upbringing for her.

Story

Write a paragraph or two about the character's life and/or personality here. You can make it as long as you feel like, or insert extra images, etc. This card will grow to fit the content you put in it.

  • Try changing the colour of some words for emphasis.
  • Or for some ideas: you could redact ██████ or highlight something, or strike it through. Maybe underline it? It's supposed to look like a notepad, so lean into it... or don't, if you don't want!

This profile uses custom colours and will display the same for any of toyhouse's themes.

Notes
  • I recommend using this section for appearance details or some trivia!
  • Or really, whatever else you're feeling... You can even delete the card entirely if you'd prefer!

If you want to add a paragraph or two here instead of using bullet points, it should still match up with the lines on the paper as long as you don't change the font size.

Relationships
Name relation type
Describe the relationship here... Add as much as you want, but this probably will work best with a short and sweet description.
