Freckles wasn’t his birth name, he just forgot mostly everything. The inkling who found him after escaping the Metro was Ty’s (His eventual boyfriend) roomate. Ty gave him the name Freckles due to the sheer amount of freckles he had & just to have something for everyone to call him.

he wears strictly crop tops/cut shirts because the octoling armor is all he knows, and anything else sets off a texture trigger of sorts, he cant have any clothing touching his midsection during Splatoon 2. Come Splatoon 3, he’s since been able to branch out to different clothing slowly so he can truly express himself once more instead of being trapped as a soldier in his brain.
