Cray Fischelius was known as one of the best Octarian doctors that ever worked in The Citadel. Graduating from school at a young age due to his brilliance, Cray was quick to climb the ranks to Lead Doctor, opting to help his fellow commrades in recovering from their wounds of battle. As the events of the Great Zapfish' disappearance took place, Cray's roll became a bit more sinister as Inkling hostages were brought forth to be tested on. Despite Cray's protests, he found that he would have no choice in the matter as he was found under DJ Octavio's hypnotic spell.

It wouldn't be too long before the effect of the hypnosis would begin to wear off, leaving Cray to break free from the spell as soon as a certain song fell onto his ears. One of the Inkling hostages had started to sing the Calamari Inkantation, snapping Cray from his daze long enough to help the hostages to break free. Unfortunately during the escape, the group was found and left the Octolings to mark Cray as a traitor. In the crossfire, he was hit and left blinded in his left eye, but was sucessfully saved by the singing Inkling.

The next that Cray would find himself awake, he would be inside an apartment in Inky Shores. The singing Inkling, who revealed himself to be named Ann, had brought him back to his apartment to help him recover in return for saving him. Unfortunately for Cray, the damage of the hypnosis has left him with a scar on his memory, having hard times trying to remember anything aside from being an Octoling named "Doc". Seeing how troubled Cray looked, Ann took it upon himself to name the Octoling "Chovi" to start off with a new identity. With a new name in place, the two would become easy friends, quickly forming Riptide Riot shortly after.

Present

Riptide Riot became a huge success all across Inky Shores. Adoring Inklings and Octolings alike found themselves enamoured by the idol's songs that they had decided to make the duo the star of the current news reports. Just like Inkopolis and Splatsville, Ann and Chovi host the hourly news segments to the residents. They often talk about the current stages as well as hosting a handfull of Splatfests. It's not often that you see the two join in on any Turf Wars, but they're often seen working together whenever they're on the stage

As Agent 15 finds themselves getting recruited to help stop the Salmon Army from flooding Inky Shores, Ann and Chovi give updates on their progress, naming them as a "masked hero" that saves the city from destruction. In their final Splatfest, however, it would seem that Agent 15's efforts have all been in vain as the Octarians and Salmons have teamed up together to take over the town. Right before Ann and Chovie could escape from the invasion, Ann finds himself being kidnapped by the Salmon Army, leaving Chovi to be pulled and forced away before he could get taken himself.

Future

In an ol' western town known as Great Zap Heights, Chovi ends up waiting with Agent 15 for a chance to save Ann from the enemy. Forcing his way into becoming Agent 16, Chovi's pure rage at the loss of his partner is what keeps him pushing through every mission that comes around. As Chovi and Agent 15 find themselves fighting off against the Salmon King and DJ Octavio in The Citadel, Chovi is left to face a brainwashed Ann on his own while Agent 15 takes on the two bosses.

Chovi ends up losing the fight between him and Ann, but ends up snapping Ann out of it by singing the Calamari Inkantation to him. Once Ann snaps out of it, the three work together to finish off DJ Octavio before they would return back to Great Zap Heights. Ann and Chovi are seen going back and forth about their help in restoring Inky Shores only to stop and talk to Agent 15 whenever they approach.
