Life in the deep sea could be unnecessarily cruel, and Daemon's mother was killed in a hunt before he was old enough to really remember her. He lost is older brother in one of the Tyrant King's battles when he was only 10, leaving him and his father alone. Despite their losses, his father never treated him delicately, instead raising Daemon to be a proud, self-sufficient warrior. In Daemon's 15th year, his father helped overthrow the Tyrant King and end the long war. The Tyrant King's brother was crowned, and named those who had helped him new nobility. Daemon's father became a duke and close advisor to the new King, and Daemon could now call his lifelong friend Princess. Daemon had little interest in courtly life, though his father was very proud of his new title and told his son it was "everything that they deserved."And one day, it would all be Daemon's, too.

Having grown up hunting and fighting to survive, Daemon was an impressive warrior and decided to join the royal guard. He ascended the ranks quickly, very prideful in his skills and finding joy in showing them off. However, he didn't enjoy boasting, much preferring to show and not tell. Any who had doubted him at first quickly learned of both his ferocity and bloodthirstiness. He gained the nickname 'crimson shark,' which he wore with pride, and began to take on more dangerous assignments.
