Lanark Pierce / Agent 8

Calamari Inkantation broke the mind control of many Octoling soldiers, and allowed many to attempt to escape to the surface. Lanark, however, didn't have the courage to try to leave until two years later. While his squadron was distracted with locating and neutralizing an intruder, he snuck away, intending to find how the intruder came in and climb to the surface. Unfortunately, the intruders found him before he could get out. A battle ensues, until an unknown third party interrupts the fight and knocks all three of them into the depths. When Lanark awakens, he's met with an elderly Inkling, and the realisation that he has lost most of his memory. The odd train station they find themselves in promises a future in the promised land, and imagining the surface, Lanark becomes Test Subject 10,008, and becomes Agent 8. As the tests come and violently go, he slowly regains his memory and love for poetry, the softer side to the highly trained muscle memory of all ink weapon types.
