Caspia

19569954_3AP746jKBYTzQr9.pngCaspia is a girl that is part mermaid and mostly human, that has the ability to breathe on land and underwater. She seems to be the only one around to have such an odd body, as she is a rare case of the result of a peaceful love between a mermaid father and a human mother, whereas humans usually are usually victims to mermaids and are killed for food.

Caspia is quiet but not shy, and very observant, and pleasant to be around. She only speaks when necessary, and it seems as though she laughs more than she talks, because of how easily amused she is. She loves to watch the sea creatures near her home. She knows not to disturb nature, and never approaches an animal firsthand.

Caspia lives with her mother at a lighthouse near the shore. Her father was a mermaid (and was half parrot fish) who had died when she was younger. She hadn't seen her father too much because of how difficult it was for him to stay on land, and how difficult it was for her mother to stay in sea. Since Caspia is mostly human, she actually doesn't do well staying too long in the water, as her gills can't support her body as strongly as breathing air. Because of this, after 2 hours of vigorous sea travel (while swimming) she will become very sleepy and fall to the ocean floor to slumber. If she's not overexerting herself and taking regular breathes of air, she can last a lot longer underwater.

She lives in a world of great magic capabilities, that are mostly hidden in the sea. Every other day she will go out for an adventure to tap into the secrets of the ocean she loves. She does this with her familiars, who she calls over with a conch shell.

Caspia has a few special possessions. She has a staff that is made from a narwhal tusk with a large sea glass attached to it, and a carved whales baleen that she tucks into her uniform. Her cape, which is made of an organic material, mimics a whales skin (that is why there are barnacles growing on it). She uses it to aid fish, and feeds it to them like medicine.

Her favorite foods consist of sea vegetables, such as sea lettuce and kelp. She also likes jelly sweets made from agar-agar. She is vegetarian and craves algae, as her parrotfish instincts kick in when she's hungry.

 Attributes

She is physically 52 years old, but looks 21.

She has large gill slits under her rib cage, and smaller ones behind her ear fins.

Her eyes are a beautiful mix of blue-green, that can have a hazel shine in the sun or sky blue hue in the dark.

If she is out at sea for long and doesn't come home to do hair care, her blonde hair can become quite scraggly, tangled, and full of sea salt. The sea water does not affect her skin or eyes though.

Her green scaly legs start around her calf muscles, with some scales at the kneecaps which benefit her in having tougher knees. Her feet are large fins that actually contain bones; with the normal hindfoot and midfoot bones, and three (instead of five) phalanx like cartilaginous bones that she can move and stretch her fins with. Her legs are very powerful and fit for swimming like a snorkelers fins, so she has no trouble in having endurance and speed in the water. Sometimes, her legs can secrete mucous, it usually happens when she's resting.

She is quite hairy and has dark body hair on her thighs, pubic area, stomach, and arms.

 Relationships

Cuspid: Someone she had met when she was 18, who later became a close friend. Caspia had first met Cuspid when he was in his orca form, not knowing that he was actually human. There were complaints directed to Caspia from local communities of sea creatures, that there was a beast that was rampaging their homes and eating many of their friends and families.. At that time, when Caspia came across Cuspid he was irritable and almost hurt her, so she had to cast a Calming spell on him in order to talk to and assess the problem carefully. This ordeal results in her getting to know him and his origin, and Cuspid falling in love with her, as she showed this gentle approach to a misunderstood beast as himself. But, she also realizes that Cuspids violent nature is not something that would be easily solved. It was not until a few days later Caspia meets Cuspid in human form, and she asks for another explanation of his abilities. She wants to try helping him in avoiding hurting her ecosystem, but Cuspid is not able to guarantee control over himself.

Caspia finds herself protecting sea creatures from him quite a lot. But Cuspid grows more and more fond of Caspia, so there is hope in him changing. Caspia doesn't take much heed to his interest in her and would like to avoid it, and has to reject marriage proposals many times. When Cuspid is not over his head, she does enjoy his company and likes to talk about emotional things because she trusts him with her feelings. But a lot of times, she likes to playfully tease him especially for his romantic antics.

The times when Cuspid has to transform into his orca self, Caspia takes a lot more care to not anger him. When the week passes and he's finally human again she is usually the one that finds him washed up on the shore passed out, and she feels she has the responsibility in having to take him safely home.

Usually though, they are not seen much together because Caspia is always busy, but Cuspid seemingly pops out of nowhere to try and greet her whenever he can.
