A Ghastkin Enchanter, Ipo has been around for an age. They are one of the few Ghastkin who managed to escape to the Overworld during the fall of the ancient Nether Royalty, and has long since made a name for themselves in the Overworld as a renowned enchanter. During the hundreds of years they've been around, Ipo has enchanted many weapons and items of legend and are also known for having created their own glyphs of enchantment used to this day. A kind individual who enjoys day-to-day living, and currently resides on the lone shore of Agaion, a dilaptidated township that has fallen to time.
About
Ipo is a Ghastkin, a race engineered by the ancient Piglin royalty through magical rite. Ghastkin are immortal unless killed by injury or disease, ceasing the aging process after a certain time, and boast an inherent affinity for Soul magic. While initially created to be servants to the royalty, they were treasured citizens who contributed to the greatness of the former empire with their latent gifts that they would build over the course of their long lives, making them absolute masters of their craft in the current age of the world.
Background
Many roles existed in the old empire. The Ghastkin, with their immortal lives, were rarely born and worked as scholars, teachers, blacksmiths, and enchanters. In Ipo's case, they were groomed to the status of a Royal Enchanter and would work closely with the old armies of the royalty and other Ghastkin blacksmiths to forge the finest Netherite weaponry and tools that once flowed in abundance. However, the end soon came for the Royalty as the Overworld and its surrounding realms suddenly lost the magic that flowed through the world and powered their structures. An unknown cataclysm ravaged the Nether, and in the chaos, Ipo was one of the few who managed to escape into the Overworld through the use of a portal. Recovering from the trauma, Ipo would fall into a deep, magical slumber for about a century, reappearing from the earth into a new world so unlike their own, bursting with life and endless opportunities.
Current
Initially, Ipo lived nomadically to gain an understanding of this new world and its peculiar inhabitants. At the same time, Soul magic was becoming an increasingly viable fount of magic that the Overworld could use after the loss of their initial magic, and so Ipo's business would become a hit success in later centuries. Kingdoms would rise and fall over time, with Ipo being a silent observer to it all. Often, their services would be commissioned by groups of heroes who would become legends in the distant future, and Ipo would make a name for themselves. Later down the line, they would begin to settle in different places to properly set up shop, meeting people and making lifelong friends along the way. As of now, Ipo has settled on the beach of Agaion, a ruined township that has been reclaimed by time, and has come across interesting characters during their stay, many of whom are now neighbors in a budding community...
Trivia
- A terrible liar. Kind at heart and wise, Ipo usually doesn't have any reason to lie. But when it comes to it, they can get so flustered that it's an easy tell.
- The Ghastkin's facial features differ from humans, and as such, they can't form the same facial expressions and often produce excess tears. Sometimes it's hard to tell if Ipo is happy or not.
- While Ipo and all Ghastkin are naturally "heavy-set", they are acutally lighter than they seem. The mass is mostly density. Ipo may look 350+ lbs, but in actuality, they weigh about a hundred lbs less.
- Initially rough on the outer surface of their skin, like sandpaper,, but incredibly soft right underneath. If you press your hand in too hard for too long, you could leave an indent on their body.
- DESPISES water. Since Ghastkin breathe through their skin and are made for sweltering enviornments, they absolutely abhor the water and cold, which can even harm them to a degree. Ipo decided to live on a beach anyway.

Herobrine [ Romantic Partner, Informal Assistant ]
Ipo and Herobrine had met when he needed repairs for his bottomless satchel and sought them out. Delighted that he could speak the Ancient Tongue, the native language of the old Royalty, their connection has blossomed over the course of 30~ years. With Brynhildr now in the mix, their relationship has become stronger and more intertwined than ever. They both enjoy poking fun at one another, and Ipo often proclaims that they chose him because "he makes me laugh."
Brynhildr [ Romantic Partner, Informal Assitant ]
Their initial meeting had been short and sweet, with Ipo taking in an exhausted, desperate Brynhildr from one of the worst storms on the coast. Ipo never expected Brynhildr to return as a neighbor, but welcomed her with open arms regardless of her true nature. Their closeness evolved over time, with the both of them sharing a love for lore and literature, and has turned into a sweet, nurturing relationship.
Prince Authio [ Close Friend, Light Crush ]
Authio's appearance onto Agaion was as surprising as it was unwelcome. He stormed to Ipo's home, demanding they come with him to help rebuild his kingdom back in the Nether, but Ipo vehemently refused. This hostile meeting would later turn into a deep conversation about the truths and untruths of Authio's undertaking, and coming down from his outburst, Authio proved to be very docile and willing to listen. After a while, Authio would temporarily settle on the shores of Agaion with Ipo, becoming something of a student on the ways of the Overworld. The two would grow close over the time they shared. Ipo thinks he's handsome.
Chirp [ Close Friend, Neighbor ]
Being one of the first few neighbors to arrive on the shores of Agaion, Ipo has become close friends with Chirp over the course of a few years. They both share a love of literature and similar tastes in sciences. Ipo is always happy to see Chirp.
Selkie [ Close Friend, Neighbor ]
While the both of them come from different worlds, with Selkie being from the water and Ipo from the Nether, the both of them have become great friends. Like Chirp, Selkie is one of the first who came to Agaion. Ipo enjoys going on long tangents with Selkie, knowing that they enjoy listening whether or not they understand. The two share books when they came, even though Selkie's books are always a little damp.
Griselda [ Good Friend, Neighbor ]
While initially offput by Griselda's condition, Ipo has quickly gotten over that and views Griselda as a good friend and associate. With the both of them being scholars to some degree, Ipo often trades research materials with her and enjoys discussing theories. Ipo wishes to find a way to allieviate some of the distress Griselda's ailment causes her.
Mirage [ Good Friendship, Associate ]
Had they been together during the days of the old Royalty, Ipo and Mirage would have been paired with each other to work on the finest weapons and tools that no amount of gold could buy. But as fate would have it, they are seperated by a vast distance. Regardless, once Ipo was able to establish a connection with Mirage through Soul magic, the two have become regular penpals. Before their rescue, Ipo often worries about Mirage and the unfortunate conditions they find themself in and sends letters and gifts whenever they can.
Seafarer Carne [ Loose Friendship ]
Often, Ipo would look out into the sea and watch Carne's ship drift along the shore, wondering about the lone man steering it. While Carne has been a regular visitor to the shore of Agaion, his distance and mistrust, along with the sea itself, keep Ipo from truly getting to know him. They hope to sit him down one day for a meal and some tea.
Ghost [ Loose Friendship ]
While both Ipo and "Ghost" have never truly spoken with each other, not even knowing his true name, Ipo believes him to be a kind soul.
Scholar Gherman [ Friendship, Close Associate ]
While their relationship is more professional and business-like, Ipo still enjoys Gherman's company to a degree, though prefers when he's quieter about his ideas and doesn't disturb the peace of Agaion. Regardless, the both of them are learned scholars and meet up with each other through scrying crystals, letters, or simply face-to-face to discuss theories and ideas. Working together, the both of them can get terribly creative with mundane items and enchantment runes.
