"That day"

When the sunlit caves were discovered and the main city started to implement the use of platinum in every day objects, Alyssa's shop started to gain a great ammount of clientele. One day a costumer came with a beautiful white platinum mirror looking for someone who could turn it into an exotic wall clock, Alyssa, excited for the possibility to work with the new material accepted the task.

She remembers the day vividly, when trying to pick apart a small detail in the bottom of the frame the mirror shattered by itself. She would describe it as a blast of air, a small explosion directly in front of her, and even if no glass shards were sent flying by any means it startled her enough to defensively put her hands up in front of her face. The small explosion had released a concentrated ammount of "natural energy", she had heard the month before that The Sun had succesfully used this energy to create a new advantage to the population and she was amazed by it, she heard of golden vines that allowed the creation of artificial wings and now supported the most extraordinary corners of the city, but now those same vines started to grow and wrap against her arms until her hands were completely deformed, hard vines now covered all the skin from the shoulder downwards, but instead of the shiny golden vines that she was so used to seeing, these vines were pitch black as if they had withered a long time ago. Parts of her face also got affected, where the blast wasn't stopped by her hands the vines also took place and in her panicked state she scratched those areas resulting in a badly damaged, now useless, left eye. Now she covers everything that reminds her directly of that day, wearing loose clothes to cover her arms as much as she can.
