• when he falls asleep, the dead visit him, thinking of him as a gate or their messenger into the living world
• they torment him with every minute he is asleep; even when he closes his eyes for mere second, they rush at him, demanding to be heard
• however, all kinds of souls and spirits visit him, even evil ones, even demons. always on the front line: his old crew, who all died when their ship sank
• Albatross tries to use his curse for something good, tries to make sense of it, but most of the time he fails
• he feels that the sightings and noises of the dead slowly make him lose his mind
• he spends most of his time on a lone sailship, accompanied by his namesakes whom he blames for his curse
