- got murdered by her groom-to-be on the night before their wedding
- still showed up to that wedding, however, and he's of course losing it and gets himself arrested after he outright admits murdering her
- (and maybe he dies later of mysterious circumstances....)
- some say she knew in advance that her groom would try to kill her so she made a pact with someone (or something)
- "You danced with Death, my friend. I can see it in your eyes." can be seen two ways:
- refering to her fiance who danced with her on their wedding even though he had just murdered her prior...
- and it can refer to Morticia herself, who not only got murdered but maybe even made a pact with Death to come back
