Backstory

Selene is the daughter of two wealthy merchants, Eritio Hesper and Madur Reshni. When in search of a way to expand their family, they stumbled upon a powerful witch. In exchange of a vast sum of gold and a few ingredients, she could give them they child they so much yearned for. For the ingredients, Eritio and Madur offered some of their hair, a basket of tangerines from their farms and the remainings of a snake. The witch then produced an egg the size of an ostrich's, but black as moonless night. 

Both men took care of the egg, making sure it was at the right temperature and away from any potential threats. Months later, the egg opened, and a small baby appeared. She had scaly dark grey skin, paws instead of feet and a long tail twice her body length. They named her Selene, and despite not being fully human they loved her unconditionally.
