It is unsure where Maria hails from or what she has done in the past. While she happily tells anyone who may ask of getting to Diner Devine, meeting the dorkish Jekowitz and the adorable Jape, getting hired and starting to work there, she doesn't tell of much else.
The most anyone has gotten out of her is the fact that she has worked in other establishments before as a cleaning lady, such as hotels, and that she does not miss her birth family. Other than that, you'll have to make do with her time at Diner Devine.

Maria more or less stumbled her way into the diner one day by accident, or so she claims. Not unusual for customers at the diner when it comes down to it, many customers arrive that way. Upon entry she immediately asked for work, claiming to have nowhere else she'd like to go, at least for now. Proving to be quite the efficient cleaning lady and saying she had worked often as such, that was the job she ended up recieving. While it took her quite a while to get used to the roller skates used in the diner, once she did she started mastering the skill of skating around while making it looks as if she has no legs - a nice trick to cheer up or baffle customers.

To say that Maria enjoys her time at the diner is an understatement and she has many a time expressed her glee of her new work environment to anyone who might want to listen, as well as to Jekowitz herself. She is also oftentimes observed puting in extra effort to better anyones stay with small trinkets, small drawings on notes left in the room after cleaning it, or the likes.
