  • No matter what has been said or done to him, he's always swore to protect them

    • Especially now that he's one of the few remaining...

  • Despite the hell he's been through, he's trying to keep himself from going over the edge

  • He's loyal despite all of the shit that's happened

Backstory:

(NO NAME YET) is a dragon. A noble dragon who years ago was saved by a prince who later became king of a nearby kingdom. Because of that, he promised to protect the prince for the rest of his days. So he turned himself into human form and chose to live a life as a knight for the king. As years went on, the king grew older and made the knight promise him on his death bed that he would continue to protect the royal family. As he'd grown to love the king, he swore to it. Thus when the king died and the new king was crowned, he swore fealty to him and all future kings and queens for the rest of his days.

Years have passed, but he continues to serve as the famous "Dragon knight" of the kingdom. Protecting the royal family from whatever may threaten them...Sadly, as time went on dragons were no longer creatures to be respected. Most of his kind was slaughtered or used as trophies or pets. The kingdom began to cheer for the death of these creatures. They soon set their sights on (NO NAME)'s head. The current ruler, to appease the people, had the dragon knight locked away and tortured every day (Since he's low-key hard/impossible to kill) he keeps healing and being tortured every day.

The way they've imprisoned him was by nailing his hands to the walls to hang him that way. His hands have healed except that one area because of the constant stakes in his palms. Around his ankles are tight chains that dig into his skin and around his neck he has a metal "choker" that is attached to the wall to keep his head constantly up.

Eventually a rebel group breaks in and break his chains, trying to help him escape but he just sits down and tells them to leave. The idea of escaping never crossed his mind because no matter what happens to him he has promised to remain here. Despite his protests he's still managed to be dragged away after a little while. The holes in his palms continue to remain unhealed even when treated and wrapped because of how long the stakes were in his hands. One day, the rebel group came back with news, they had killed the current king. In retaliation, (NO NAME) got angry and turned into a dragon, killing a lot of people in the process.

Afterwards, he doesn't know where to go. He can't go back to the capital, there is no more royal family to protect. There are no more dragons he knows of to go to, so he just sits there for a while, just letting the world pass him by because he isn't sure what to do.

He goes back to one of his old friend's caves to find them and possibly have some sort of comfort but instead finds their cave plundered and all their treasure taken and the bones of his friend and his friend's family laying there with a sword left behind in his friend's skull

Which he takes and uses as his weapon

Falls in love with another human and begins living in the village with him for a while. It doesn't last since the man tries to kill him and he ends up killing him and most of the village. 

Eventually runs into the original king's ghost and breaks down crying in front of him, apologizing for his inability to protect his family the way he had promised.
