Zeph Chaise

✰ Story Summary
Zeph is from a family of the future who were sent back in time to stop a cosmic catastrophe that would doom the earth they live on.
Problem is, they were sent too far back without a way to return. While the job originally rested in his parents hands, it was passed to him upon their deaths.
The job was to obtain master use of a magic crystal that has the ability to bend time and space, when in the right hands, and stop the forseen event before it even has a chance to begin.
Problem is, Zeph barely belives it's true. And he's got plenty of time, right? They were sent back hundreds of years before they needed to be. And he still has hundreds of years to live and mess with this crystal thing, yeah?
So now we have Zeph slacking off on his important mission with a new life in the past. He's moved around a lot, tending to not stay anywhere for more than 20 years or so. People tend to notice his lack of aging, or even worse, die within that time. And he can handle leaving an old friend voluntarilly and with a pleasant goodbye better than watching them grow old and frail, and eventually expire...
He's over 60 years old now, and doesn't look a day over 25. He's got a new group of friends he's started hanging with, (due in part to accidentally plaguing one with an alternate identity who's caused nothing but trouble since she was 4) and eventually even tells them his origins. They promise to stick with him through thick and thin and his closest friends Carol and Xander are getting him back on track to saving the world, agreeing to help him of course.
All is looking up for him now, until he discovers the crystal isn't just a magic rock, but a magic rock holding an ancient and powerful soul that finally grants Zeph use of his powers. /If/ he'll train to become strong enough for it. It's going to be even harder work now, but the spirit insists that there isn't as much time as his parents originally thought and they must start immediately.
