Personality

A cold individual, Alister keeps a façade of stoicism and Courage to provide morale to his people. He's a terrifying individual to make an enemy of, as he is ruthless in battle and in speech. As a friend or a member of the Alerian race, he's overprotective: He knows of the dangers that await anyone who's careless in this world, and wants no one who he cares about to suffer at the hands of his worst enemies: The Zykics.

This behavior manifests the most in how he treats his granddaughter. Being one of the last members of the royal family, Alister does everything in his power to make sure she doesn't end up in foul hands. This does mean, whenever he intends it or not, he's one hell of a helicopter parent, always keeping an eye on her out of fear that she'd get killed or worse.

Background:

The Alerians were a simple race of proud warriors: Strong and stoic, yet compassionate to those who were weak. They hardly started fights, but they sure as hell finished them swiftly and brutally. Hardly anyone messed with them as a result... Until one day, a race of serpent-like creatures came along. These creatures, unlike many before them, fought not with swords or shields: rather, they fought with the Alerians on a completely different front, a front no Alerian was prepared to defend.

The front of the mind

With this tactic, the Alerians were overwhelmed: Most were enslaved, mind controlled into compliance, the others that weren't were simply brutalized and left for dead, using the mind controlled comrades as puppets to do the dirty work. And then, they left, taking their newfound slaves with them. However, most of them lived: One of them being the then leader of the Alerians.

His name was Alister.

The defeat of the Alerians at the hands of these creatures [Dubbed "Zykics"] devastated him: Never had he seen his people so much at the mercy of someone else. Not to mention, he had to watch his son and daughter-in-law be taken away, enslaved by those beasts. He swore to take them down and free those who's been taken by the Zykics. But there was a problem: The Zykics weren't fighters of the traditional kind. They used psychic influence and mental attacks to take down the Alerians. Fighting them with sword and shield alone would be a death sentence. He needed something, anything, to shield his mind from their influence: As without their psychic attacks, they were weak. But...how? How could he shield his and anyone's mind from their influence? How could he break free the ones who had already fallen to it? ...Was it even possible to begin with?

Thus began Alister's desperate quest for answers: From books of old, trial and error, and seeking aid from magic users who specialized in psychic magic, Alister searched far an wide for answers. It was a difficult endeavor: He was not only trying to learn magic [after knowing only physical combat all his life], but he was attempting to build a new sort of magic to counter psychic magic, as he discovered no such thing existed. Years went by, nights went sleepless, and at times he seriously considered giving up: but eventually, he did it. He forged a new type of magic: Blending what he learned of psychic magic with a flavor of counterspell and protection magic. He wasn't sure it'd work, but what else did he have? It was certainly a gamble, but he was needed now more than ever. And he may of failed them once, but he was not going to fail them again

Not if he and his "Anti Psychic" magic had anything to say about it.

With those new tools in hand, he set off to face the Zykics: Alone. He didn't want to risk harm on anyone else, in case this backfired or worse. He reached the heart of the Zykic empire, weapons in tow. When he reached their emperor, he simply demanded one thing: Release the Alerian Slaves. Initially, Alister was laughed at by the Zykics. Then, one of their soldiers told their ruler in jest that he'll handle this little "problem" of theirs. And with that he attempted a psychic takeover of Alister: and from the outside, it worked. Alister seemed under the influence of the soldier, but when issued an order...Alister pulled out his sword and shoved it right through their chest, killing the soldier instantly. The room immediately went quiet, as the Zykic Royalty were left in shock over what just happened. Someone breaking free from their influence?

Alice's Grandfather, and renowned war hero for his efforts against the Zykics. Doesn't like Lore, as his psychic abilities makes him worry that Lore is a Zykic in disguise, trying to woo the Princess of the Alerians.
