Pikeleap is a warrior of RiverClan and a staple of the clan since back when SkyClan was a part of the rainforest. He was born to Dewstar of RiverClan alongside his two sisters: Sedgefrost and Puddlesplash. Later it is revealed he was fathered by the ThunderClan leader Acornstar, making Acornstar's daughter Sparkbreeze his half sister. The reveal severed the two clans inside and out and left Pikeleap feeling humiliated and ridiculed. Pikeleap still despite his feelings of betrayal and humiliation stayed loyal to his mother and their clan, vowing to protect and serve it even moons after her death.

Pikeleap was born as Pikekit to his mother Dewstar and with his two sisters Puddlekit and Sedgekit (Puddlesplash, Sedgefrost).
