Earnest Tempestas's Comments

1. What are some of your character's motivations, roles, or goals in their story?

Keep his family safe

2. Is your character more comfortable in a group or in solitude?

Earnest prefers and is used to being surrounded by people. He does enjoy the brief times of solitude he gets, but he would start to feel uneasy if he was on his own for too long.

He has has a big family and is often around the other workers at the wainwright shop he works at, and sometimes does carpentry-related odd jobs around town, so it's rare that he gets much time alone.

3. Does your character have any distinguishing features (such as scars, birthmarks, tattoos, etc)?

His whole self is pretty distinguishing with pink skin, pink horns, long and curly white hair, and many white speckles and stripes.

Earnest has a claw scar on his eyebrow as well as various scars elsewhere on his body, some of which are from having children and a wife with big claws.

He has assorted tattoos on his arms and at least one on his back, though they're yet to be decided. One would relate to his partner before Diyojua that he got after their passing.

He also has earrings and a nose ring.

Earnest also lost his left leg just below the knee. He has a prosthetic leg, but only wears it as needed because it starts to hurt if he wears it for too long.

4. How does your character feel about looking after children and animals, and how well would they do?

Earnest loves kids and has three of his own, as well as a bundle of niblings. He's taught the ones who are old enough and will listen the basics of woodworking and swordfighting.

5. Can your character take care of a house plant?

Not really. Earnest is not the worst and can water something if he needs to, but he doesn't know much about plant care and is generally too preoccupied with kids and work to have the energy or time to care for plants.

6. Does your character have any special interests or hobbies?

Carpentry and wagon crafting are his hobbies and occupation. He also is a fairly skilled at swordfighting and tries to keep up on practicing that.

Pairing all of that with being a parent doesn't leave a ton of time to have other hobbies.

7. How much do they care about their physical appearance (including stuff like keeping clean and tidy or being into fashion)?

Earnest has adorned himself in piercings and tattoos, though his thoughts on clothing tend to veer towards things that are comfortable and don't get in the way too much.

He tries to keep fairly clean but he is liable to be pretty sweaty from work and carrying kids around. And he isn't, like, deeply bothered by dirt.

8. Name at least one positive, one negative, and one neutral trait about your character

[TBA]

9. Do they have any physical health issues or disabilities (including, but not limited to, stuff like allergies or blood pressure issues)?

He's an amputee and deals with pain and physical disability from this.

10. Are they neuro-atypical in any manner?

He's neurodivergent! He also has PTSD and anxiety.

11. Do they have family (including found family) and how do they get along with them?

Earnest is very close with his family! His siblings are his life partners and he loves his kids and niblings dearly.

12. Do they have any other important relations?

Probably. I imagine he would know people in his community and has helped with projects like repairs on people's houses after monster attacks and things.

13. Does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?

Earnest doesn't worry too much about how he comes across. He's just a stressed, tired, but more or less chill dork.

Sometimes people read him as stern and serious, and some likely think he's grumpy. He can be serious at times but he's not especially grumpy.

14. Does your character value honesty and integrity, and does that reflect in their own actions?

That's complicated. In essence, yes, but survival in a messy, dangerous world with a family to protect is complicated.

Sometimes lying, stealing, and so forth are necessary to survival.

Earnest values community and taking care of those within his community.

15. Where would your character fall on a politeness/rudeness scale?

Earnest isn't someone who sets out to be rude or cruel and would generally veer towards polite, but he doesn't always aim for polite, either. Just honest.

16. How likely is your character able to read social cues and body language from others?

Debatable. He tries his best but people are complicated.

17. How emotive / emotionally expressive is your character?

Not extremely, especially as far a things like facial expressions and vocal inflections go.

18. Do they care more about getting their own way, or about treating others fairly?

Generally treating others fairly, but his family is his priority.

19. What kind of climate do they prefer?

HOT

20. How do they respond to confrontation?

It depends on the variety. He's willing to talk and listen if someone has a valid concern.

Aggression doesn't get a lot of a response from him and he mainly gets awkward, though he could fight someone is he needed to.

21. Do they enjoy or desire intimate relationships?

Very much! In any sense.
