Granite is the middle child of the Smiths, finding himself always trying to prove his responsibility from a young age. A common trope, where the parents forget about the middle child inbetween the oldest and youngest, caused Granite to develop a slight bitterness towards his parents, though he did bond closely with his brothers. His attempts at seeming more responsible and important pushed him further to travel with them to Waterfall City, taking up a retail job and home (that he barely affords) in order to seem more well off than Ken or Grimoire. He is competitive at heart, and often ends up in arguments with his youngest brother Ken over responsibilities and chores, particularly when his brother crashes at his home for more than a week at a time.
His dreams aren't all there, not sure what he wants to do besides gaining more money and seeming smarter and stronger mentally than his brothers, no matter how much he loves them. His inferiority complex often deters him from thinking of much else and often puts his finances in trouble by taking on more than he should in the name of being the 'bigger man' in situations.
