Nate is a strong Pokémon trainer, and the current champion of the Unova region, although he is rarely ever seen at the league. He is a mystery to some, but those who have met him regard him as being kind and laid-back, at least on the outside. He likes to help others, but sometimes overestimates what he is capable of.

His disappearance has made him significantly less popular in the region than when he rose to champion, including with some of his former friends.
