STORY

Kithood

Tidepaw was born with one other sibling, to two cats named Skyfall and Tidalpelt. Both warriors were very young at the time that they gave birth to Ratpaw and Tidepaw. This caused some issues, as both warriors were still determined to make their name known in the clan. As a result the kits father, Tidalpelt, spent more time out of camp and hunting than in the nursery. He was a hero in Tidepaw's eyes, coming in with big catches or not coming back until he had something. Tidepaw would often wait by the nursery entrance, watching each pelt that slipped into camp. Occasionally she'd fall asleep by said entrance, only to be woken up by Tidalpelt's encouragement for her to get back to her nest.

On the other hand, Tidepaw's mother was always around. Skyfall was also just as eager to make a good impression as a warrior- not a mother. Skyfall spent a fair amount of time talking with other queens, trying to build a relationship with them and chattering on about the other kits in the nursery. Tidepaw never felt any resentment for this, though he did get a tad lonely from time to time. That's why Ratpaw was such a welcomed companion whenever he was lonely.

Ratpaw was someone he could always rely on when things got dull in the nursery. They were always getting into trouble, sneaking out and finding the weirdest things to make into a game. Tidepaw was always thrilled with this. Ratpaw was everything Tidepaw needed to balance out the boring and dull waits for her father to return... So naturally, when Ratpaw started doing things they shouldn't, Tidepaw started to cover for them. She didn't want them to get in trouble and see things get boring again. She just wanted to play! The two even came up with their own special game to play. Urchin-ball. Of course neither of them actually ever found an urchin... Nonetheless.The goal of this game was simple, both kits would wrap as much leafage and plant matter around their paw as possible.. and then swat a sharp rock or piece of coral back and forth. Whoever got hurt first lost! It was their own way to pass the time, and even if it got the two scolded once or twice, they kept playing it.

Skyfall wasn't the best at keeping an eye on either of them, being much too young to really consider parenthood seriously. Often times the kits would manage to sneak out- or get caught by a different parent from the nursery. Skyfall would scold the two, fret for a moment, and then go back to smothering the two in love. Tidepaw never felt out of place or unappreciated, that's for sure. Despite her parents relative absence, both always made sure to let both kits know that they had a place in this clan. They just had to find it.

Apprenticeship

Finally, after 6 long moons of waiting, Tidepaw was apprenticed to the leader of Tempestclan. This came as a huge shock for Tidepaw, I mean.. Monarchstar taking him on as an apprentice...? He was absolutely thrilled with the idea, though an anxiety settled in the back of his mind as to how he'd ever hold up to being the apprentice of a leader. His sibling, Ratpaw, was apprenticed to Tideshred. Tidepaw will never admit this, but he has his eyes on Tideshred for the toms name alone. After all... Tidepaw was named after his father, Tidalpelt. At least that's what Skyfall said. Tidepaw's watching the new mentor very closely...

Notes

• Her whiskers are curly!
• His ears are tufted, and while most of his fur is smooth, it still sticks up a little near his tail.
• She always looks like she's up to no good. Mischievious.

TRIVIA

• She was named after her father, originally being named 'Tidal', but Skyfall wanted at least some variation.
• Sometimes he hangs around the medicine den. He really likes the smell of it in there, and kind of wishes he'd taken that route instead.
• Due to her short fur and strong paws, Tidepaw makes an incredibly strong swimmer. If only she wasn't somewhat intimidated of the ocean.
• He thinks the view of the ocean is always so pretty.. one day he'd like to swim all the way out to the end.
