BACKSTORY

Ellyjobell (her first given name) had a very nice childhood, surrounded by an extended, loving family, composed of her four grandparents, her 7 Siblings (two older, one twin and 4 younger) and her parents. From a young age, Elly became interested in alchemy. She spent many hours in the house library at first, reading about all one could do, and soon enough acquired the materials to have her own little lab- she would spend hour upon hour making mysterious potions, and it is that time spent in the half darkness and (sometimes toxic) fumes that led to her getting her glasses at such a young age. Some of the nicknames she earned in her childhood were Glooky (given by a younger sibling because of her large glasses) and Tusc-Turinthi (meaning Explosive Princess in Gnomish, given by her grandfather, always a fan of her experiments).

At about 25, Elly left home to travel the world and keep learning about all she could. It went fine, though a couple years after, she got bad news: her older brother, whom she hadn't heard of much, had messed up, and badly. He had been married to a noble lady (in whose castle Elly had actually been born) but, recently, had left on a sea voyage. While cleaning his things, the lady had found many love letters from another woman.. It seemed like Elly's brother had left to go to that other woman. Devastated, the lady threw herself off a tower, leaving her young son behind. Elly's entire family was very embarrassed and felt very bad for the poor noble lady's son, who now was an orphan.

During her years of travel, Elly met a young lady named Clementine, who shared her love for alchemy and knowledge, but who was held back by an old and controlling father. This lady was Elly's first crush. To appease her father (who was also racist) Clementine said Elly was simply a human friend by the name of Suzanna, who was traveling through. They had to separate after their scheme was found out, but the two kept in contact for many years, until Clementine's death, in fact.

At the age of 28, barely a year after leaving Clementine, Elly was at a seaside bar, a little drunk, and was getting hit on by an elven sailor. He was very polite, friendly, and even gave her the nickname Aleslosh (yes she did tend to drink a little too much when young, and still likes it). That time was.. Her first mistake. She ended up pregnant, and the father disappeared without leaving an address. Elly first left to her older sisters place, Daphibi, where she stayed until her daughter was born. Stuck at a single place was not something Elly enjoyed, but there was nothing she could do. She had to give her child a good upbringing. When Lori, her daughter, was old enough enough, Elly took her and began traveling again. (her sister didn't really agree but Elly was stubborn and wouldn't listen)

Her daughter was barely old enough to live on her own (19) when Elly once again found herself being wooed by a man. He was a soldier, and the two had met in a small town where Elly was selling her wares for a little extra income. This adventure also accidentally ended in her becoming pregnant, and, this time, Elly went to see her second youngest sister, who lived in Smallville, which, as the name suggests, is a town inhabited only by small races- gnomes, dwarves, goblins, halflings and the like. Tifamiphi, the sister, was glad to take her in. She was young, but had big dreams, and had good relationships within the town already. Little did they know that about 50 years later, Tifa would become mayor of Smallville, and would stay so for hundreds of years, since people loved her.

Elly's son was thus born, named Wrenn. This time, Elly did settle down for longer. She found a small house and set up her own laboratory. Lori set off on her own, traveling, sometimes coming back. Life was good, but quiet. A little too quiet for Elly, who still dreamed of more knowledge and adventure. About thirty years later, when both her children had left, Elly gifted her house to her sister and went off again.

Elly had taken to teaching to gain money, on the side of her potions. She liked helping others find knowledge and realise how wonderful alchemy is. It was during one of those teaching periods, in a relatively large town, that Elly met the man who would later become her husband. He was a gnome, too, and was currently an apprentice baker. He needed to learn halfling, for many of his customers only spoke that, and Elly was only too happy to help. She stayed longer than expected in this town, and grew closer to Gimble. He always gifted her little cupcakes, and she would also craft fun potions to add in his dough. A few years later, they decided to get married.

They had two children together, a daughter, Nissa, and a son, Kasvyn. Due to Gimble’s work, they couldn't move around too much, but Elly still found a lot of work in this large town- she became a rather well-known tutor. She was in fact so well known that, a few years later, she received a letter by the local nobles- they were asking her to become their children's private tutor. Elly accepted, and the entire family was able to move into the castle. It was only after a while that Elly realized who they were: it was the same noble family her brother had been part of- whose death of a lady he was responsible for. It seemed, however, that the family did not realize this. This was three generations down for them, as they were humans, and the lady's son was a very old grandpa- he did not remember Elly, and the latter kept this knowledge silent.

Growing up, Elly's children and the noble children got along well, and became good friends. But children grow up, and slowly, they left, too. Elly stayed in fact for several generations of noble children, but never had any more of her own. Her husband had great work as the castles pastry chef, and everyone was happy. In her time at the castle, Elly became grandma, then great grandma. She was also an aunt and great aunt, and received often news from her family.

Several generations later, Elly received news that her oldest son, Wrenn, had died- he was half human, and had always been weak.. This death broke Elly, and suddenly, she felt cooped in. This castle was nice, but it reminded her too much of her son, she needed to go. The nobles respected her work for them however, and gave her a very flattering letter about her skills as teacher- something that would assure her work wherever she went. After finishing to teach the current child, Elly left. She had been off the roads for too long…

And thus, at over three hundred years old (which is starting to be a little old, even for a gnome) Elly decided to set off again. Her husband was alright with that, seeing how much she needed it, and she promised to write home often. She went on a few other adventures before this one, but nothing noteworthy. And now, she has found this party… And the story goes on.
