Personality

Matrix is a well known Octoling living in Splatsville. As a DJ, she loves to make metal/rave songs (think Electric Callboy) for her fans in the underground parties of Splatsville. Outside of her DJ-Job, she lives Turf Wars and Anarchy Wars. However, never ask her to take part in Salmon Runs. She doesn't do them anymore for... specific reasons. In fights, she is infamous for her stylish tricks as well as her sneaky fighting style, sneaking up to enemies slowly to take them out in surprise. And she also shouts a lot at her teammates, when she thinks they only mess around. She isn't allergic to shrimps and bullshit for nothing-

She has a bit cold, cool and stylish, yet mysterious personality. Outside of fights, you will often see her riding a self-built motorbike or a shark. Yes, a shark. She adores everything Sci-Fi and Cyberpunk and completely lives in the future. And since she has been in space, she is pretty fascinated with it, researching it more and more. Since she is often stressed out, also thanks to her adventure, she often meditates and listens to LoFi Music while doing so. Her biggest fear is, besides Mammals taking over the world and killing everyone with fluffyness, that AI will take over the world. She fears Androids, but Robots are fine. They are "stupid and cute", as Matrix often states.

And then, there's her little friend Neo, a Salmini. He is curious about everything, loves food to bits (especially fish nuggets and fisheggs) and cuddles often with Matrix or sits on her head or in a bag of hers. He also loves to see and collect new things, showing them to Matrix. But ever since the end of their adventure, Neo doesn't want to sleep in his fluffy bed anymore-

Current Situation

Nowadays, after she saved the world, Matrix is a well known DJ called "Mrs. Future", making and playing songs (think Electric Callboy in 2022). She also makes Songs fitting into the cyberpunk or witch house category under other names. (2077 Desaster / P1x3lTrAsH).

She also takes part in turf wars and anarchy wars. However, despite being a hero, she hates being treated as such, so she tries to play it down and be remembered just for her music. Also, she deals with heavy nightmares since she had that one incident in her adventure...

Creation

Matrix was basically the nickname for the first "character" I made in Splatoon 3. She was an Octoling with torn pants, sunglasses, a jacket and dark shoes. I decided to stay with this design (I tend to change the Inkling/Octoling designs often in-game) and play through the single player story. While doing so, I came up with more and more ideas for this OC dedicated to the dystopian, sci-fi feeling of the story. And so, Matrix and her salamini Neo came to life! (And it might be the story's fault that I created Zero and revived Shade, two other Splatoon OCs-)

Main Weapon

Matrix fights mostly with an Airbrush MG, along with those bombs you can shake and throw and the infamous sharkhammer.

Zoooooom-

Even without clothing effects, she is a super fast swimmer. However, she uses fast swimming mostly for stylish tricks. When sneaking, she swims super slow, so nobody can see her.

Salmini "Neo"

A little Salmini, who follows her ever since she woke up in that strange desert before Splatsville. Eats almost everything and can literally smell treasures.

Shark Tamer

Able to tame sharks. She actually has a megalodon as a pet, which she also uses as a motorbike! (Thank Shiver for that-)

The sixth sense

In her adventure, she often had visions of what would/could happen next. Thanks to this, she could save the world and avoided some very huge mistakes.

Able to hack into systems and computers. She also breaks the 4th wall sometimes-

Backstory

An Octoling woke up in a lost desert. Without a name and without any knowledge of her former life, she walked through the strange place, along with a small being. A salmini, which would follow her everywhere she will go. After some traveling, she came to a train station. While waiting for the next train to arrive to take her to any town, she found an old movie poster of a man with sunglasses in green lights and pixels. She was amazed by it and only read the title and the names of some characters. And so, she decided to name herself Matrix and named her little friend, the Salmini, Neo.

When arriving in Splatsville, she was confused at first. So much to see in such a creative town. She went on to discover the whole city, until she accidently met Captain Cuttlefish. He asked her if she could help him on a mission to get back the electric source of Splatsville and, since Matrix didn't have any other plan now and since she wanted to learn more about this world she was in, she agreed.

While saving the world, she accidently fell into the former hope for humanity - Alterna. She went through a lot of missions, beating them all and removing all the fluff. And while doing so, she got visions, showing her outcomes. She blindly followed those visions, trusting in them. But some of those scared her. They always were too real. Like she was in a game, making bad desicions and reloading the game to undo them. And those visions would mess her up in the end.

At the end of her journey, when Shiver and their friends helped her reach space, when they met Captain Cuddlefish again and when the Sea Sirens tried to help Matrix and Neo... That was when it happened. Matrix stood on the spaceship, trying to control the spaceship and removing all weakpoints from Mr. Bear, the evil one behind the Salmon Runs and the one who wanted to destroy all merfolk, making mammals reign again over the world. Matrix didn't make it in time, and she had to watch, as her friend and all people got consumed by fluff. EVerything was lost. She lost her new home. And a whole world died and got reborn.

She quickly woke up from her vision, deeply disturbed. All those things she saw in her vision would happen. The spaceship, the fight against Mr. Bear... but in the end, she won and saved Splatsville and the whole world. The visions ended there, gladly. But ever since, she was haunted by nightmares. Nightmares of fluff, mammals and her being the reason the world suffocated in fluff...

Species Lore

Octolings are a canon species from Nintendo's Splatoon. They are playable since Splatoon 2 and are very similar to Inklings. They resemble Octopus and are able to turn into one, or their usual humanoid form. They can use weapons to shoot ink, swim as a Octopus in said ink and their hair is made out of Octopus tentacles.

Matrix is a Octoling, who has damaged tentacles as hair. This hairstyle doesn't change over the whole story. She is a stylish Octoling taking part in turf wars and anarchy wars, but tries to cancel Salmon Runs ever since her adventure.
