Kodachi

Alternate "Inverted" Kat

Kodachi lived a happy and carefree life with her parents.  Both of her parents were kind and loving, and she was thier "little princess".

They taught her to be fair and kind as a 'real princess' would be, however, one day her whole world was turned upside-down.

It turns out that her mother had been having an affair with another man.  Her father forgave her and tried to keep the family together but her parents were getting into constant arguments and the mother continued her rendevous.

Eventually the mother declared that she is leaving Koda and her father to be with her lover.  The father begs her mother desperately to stay, but the mother refuses.  Things escalate and out of desperation to prevent her from leaving, the father stabs the mother with a decorative kodachi [short sword] that they had in the house.

After coming to his senses and realizing what he had done, the father breaks down sobbing uncontrollably and filled with regret.  He makes the final decision to commit suicide as repentance for killing his wife, but deciding to kill Koda out of love/sympathy so that she is not left alone in the world.

With tears in his eyes, he attacks Koda with the sword but she avoids it, although not entirely.  Although he missed her body, he slices through her tail, cropping her tail short. The sword drops to the floor as her father stumbles. Scared and in an act of self-preservence, she quickly grabs the sword and stabs her father.

From there she is sent to an orphanage [as she has no other family left] where she enters a "dog eat dog" world where she learns that only the children that have the most desired physical appearance, academic intelligence, or talent are adopted.

After struggling her way through the ranks [at first she remains kind/naiive but after being betrayed by the girl she deemed her best friend, she abandons her previous trusting personality for a ruthless one], she is scouted by a talent agency to become an idol due to her fantastic voice.

She changes her name to "Kodachi" after the sword that slew her family.
