Ahh thank you so much! Yes, his markings + colorings were mostly inspired by various Dragonfish species (mostly the Black and Barbled), with some additional inspiration from Glowing False Moray Eels!
Woahhh those are so cool! I doodle new alien species when I'm bored and they always end up incorporating an animal feature, so as soon as I saw this guy I just HAD to know! Those dragonfish are SO COOL dude!! They're so small! They remind me of the Pelican Eel, but they're so tiny! And I love the bioluminescent sea creatures so much <3 Sorry for the ramble, but thank you for introducing me to these guys! <3
