Thanks to her love of Disney growing up, Luna has always felt optimistic that everything would turn out alright, and believed that dreams could come true.

She sometimes feels as though she's still a child and hasn't grown up in others' eyes, causing her to feel rather stuck.

STORY

With her love for Disney magic and dreams come true, Luna has always had stars in her eyes and her head in the clouds. Real life may not be the perfect fairy tale she dreamed of, however, so she began to struggle with growing up. Luna stayed in Dreamlight Valley for as long as she could, until it slipped away from her.

Being able to animate was a form of escapism, her way to create her happily ever afters, even if it was fictional. She adored to take the character designs thrown at her and create animated works with them. And sometimes, she would animate Disney characters, feeling as though she was reconnecting with long-lost friends.

Our story begins with an ending, as she decides it's time to leave the city behind. Yearning for a pause from life's responsibilities, she arrives at a familiar place. A quick stroll along a nearby path leads her to a spot where, as a child, she found that life was simpler. And with a touch of imagination, all of her dreams would come true! Finding the perfect place for a rest, she began remembering these long-lost dreams... And drift off to sleep.

Magically, she ends up in Dreamlight Valley.

All at once, it felt like perhaps dreams can come true. Luna feels a familiarity in this strange new world, and jumps right in with accepting these new responsibilities and wishing to help others restore their lost memories- and to regain her own in the process, more quickly than her sister. She was filled with nostalgia and realized she never really let it go entirely.

This was their Dreamlight Valley.

After she and Selene free Gothel from the large tree in the Glade of Trust, the sisters discover they were the rulers of Dreamlight Valley, and Selene had trapped Mother Gothel in the tree for fiddling with dark magic which threatened to destroy the whole valley.

While Selene became outwardly hostile toward the villains, Luna gave them a (reluctant) helping hand, believing there must be a reason why they were here in the first place. As memories slowly return, Luna struggles with insecurities. Was it truly their fault that the valley was dying? Was it their fault that everyone lost their memories?

If so, she had to make this right. Her love for the valley and its residents was too strong, and she knew that they would never allow themselves to lose everything again.

Lost in the Dark Grove
Once Selene and Luna gather enough Dreamlight, they ask Merlin to help them remove the Night Thorns blocking the path between the plaza and Forest of Valor, venturing forth together to explore uncharted territory.

They soon run into Kristoff standing by a pillar and what appears to be a portal. they speak with him, learning that he and Donald were looking for something to help fight the Night Thorns and stop the Forgetting... however, he lost Donald. Selene snidely asks how anyone could lose Donald Duck, only to be elbowed by Luna telling her to be nice and ask how it happened.

Kristoff tells them how a dark entity appeared that stole the Orb of Courage, and in his haste, Donald had ran after them inside of the portal. Selene sighs, saying how it sounds like something Donald would do while Luna side eyes her with a thoughtful look. Without thinking about it, Selene says she will rescue him and steps inside.

While inside the Dark  Grove, Selene finds a a duck feather and a purple vile herb on a branch. Unable to locate Donald, she returns back through the portal where Kristoff and Luna are waiting. She tells them the Grove is full of mist, causing Luna to tell her that it would be too dangerous to go back.  Kristoff agrees, saying how they should ask Merlin for help.

The  sisters track Merlin down, who says he will need to craft a powerfu  potion to help track Donald down using the feather and herb. He tells them to bring him emeralds and dream shards for completing the tracking  spell. Selene grabs some emeralds she had saved and Luna brings some of her dream shards. They bring everything to Merlin who makes the spell for Selene. With everything complete, they travel back to the forest.

Selene reluctantly agrees to leave Donald behind, finding her way back out of the portal to return the Orb of Courage into the pillar. With the pillar fixed, Donald is magically brought into the Forest of Valor where Selene, Luna and Kristoff are waiting. He thanks the trio for all of their help. Before Donald parts ways, he hands Selene something the Dark Entity dropped which looks to be a page from a diary. Selene and Luna share a look, with Luna quickly thanking Donald and encouraging him to go see his friends.

The Curse
Selene and Luna head to the Glade of Trust, they see Dark Magic shoot from the tree into the sky that assaults the Plaza. Confused by what happened, the pair enter the tree that is now unlocked to find Mother Gothel. They learn that one of the old rulers trapped her inside for tampering with Dark Magic that threatened the valley.

Gothel tells them that said ruler turned the spell back on her, locking her away in the tree. However, now that they'd freed her, the dark spell had unleashed on the village.

Selene demands to know how to break the curse before she gets angry, prompting Luna to calm her down and calmly tells Gothel they helped her, now she helps them.

Gothel explains that if they restore the orb in the Pillar of Trust, it might get rid of the dark magic... which she ripped out and tossed across onto a floating island that is now unreachable. Gothel says she cast a spell to hide it, but it worked too well and is now stuck between worlds.

Selene and Luna decide to go speak to Merlin, where they find him talking to Ursula on Dazzle Beach. They learn that everyone who had been at home when the spell unleashed were trapped inside, and he and Ursula had only managed to escape by using their magic.

Merlin says in order for the spell to work, a sacrifice must be made. The spell will take one of them between the here and there, were the orb is hidden. After a few questions, Selene and Luna turn their direction to the sea witch, who explains they need Kristoff to sacrifice his love by forgetting his memories of Anna.

Hearing that it's the only way to save their friends, Luna goes to find Kristoff, and Selene makes preparations by collecting dream shards and dark shards to deliver to Ursula.

Kristoff reluctantly agrees to give up his memories, going with Luna to the cave on Dazzle Beach to meet up with Selene, Merlin and Ursula. Before the spell can be cast, Ursula says one of them need to sacrifice their magic. Selene accuses her of trying to trick them, which Ursula rebuttals by telling her to blame Gothel and how it will plague them forever if it's not stopped.  This forces Selene to agree into giving up her magic, preventing her sister from making the deal in her place.

After the deal is completed, they must decide who will go between the here and there to retrieve the orb. This causes the two sisters to argue over who will do it. Selene relents when she sees Luna isn't going to back down. They share a hug, with Selene telling her to come back safely. Once the spell  is cast, Luna is sent between the here and there. She makes her way to the broken bridge Mother Gothel showed them and is able to walk across the air to collect the Orb of Trust. She returns it into the pillar which causes the dark magic to dissipate.

With everything returning back to normal, Selene and Luna talk to Gothel once more, confusing them when she makes vague comments about them pretending not to know who they are. She drops the bomb shell that they are the rulers of the valley. This throws Selene into more confusion when Gothel confirms it was Selene that trapped her and how one day, she started to change and disappeared.

What's Left Behind
During her time in the Forgotten Lands for daily tasks, a flash of light coming from the Pumpkin House takes Luna by surprise. She curiously goes to investigate and discovers that the door is finally unlocked, allowing her to enter and meet the Fairy Godmother. After a brief chat, Fairy Godmother reveals that she knows where the location of another Orb for the Pillars is, but first she needs 5 Purified Night Shards.

Luna gathers the Purified Night Shards and delivers them. The Fairy Godmother explains how they must enter the realm of dreams. Luna follows her to a spot in The Forgotten Lands where Fairy Godmother reveals a Night Thorn covered tree house with the use of her magic combined with the shards. Without wasting time, the duo go inside. Inside is a large room that holds the Orb, but it's out of power. The Fairy Godmother tells her that they need 6 memories to return it back to normal. Luna finds 3 of the memories on pedestals around the room which unlocks a memory. Now at a dead end, the Fairy Godmother tells her that she will  have to travel to The Forgotten's past.

A portal appears that allows Luna to travel through to the past. With no other choice, she steps inside where she is sent back in time.

Forgotten Memories: Friendship
After Luna steps through the portal, she is now in the body of a teenage Selene and begins to experience the emotions of her sister. Luna makes her way over to Mickey Mouse, who asks her for help with picking some flowers for Minnie. Luna quickly realizes show her mind is filled with negative thoughts and feelings. When Mickey asks how she's doing and points out how she seems down, Luna brushes it off and can't express her real thoughts.

Once collecting the 'ugly' flowers, she makes them into a bouquet and delivers them to Minnie, who is concerned about the horrible state of the flowers, but keeps her thoughts to herself and shows appreciation by thanking her. Luna makes her way back to Mickey, who told her that he had hoped to make it together. Before Luna gets more overwhelmed with negative emotions, Mickey tells her how Goofy wanted to speak with her.

Luna finds Goofy who tells her how he  wants to have a meal with her and asks her to help with collecting the  ingredients for a Bouillabaisse. Luna feels how her sister wanted to be left alone, but again, agrees and collects ingredients that are rotted to make the meal. When she brings the Bouillabaisse to Goofy, he is disappointed as he had wanted to cook together. Due to the food being un-edible, Goofy politely makes an excuse for them to not eat it and tells her how Minnie wanted to speak with her.

She makes her way back over to Minnie who tries to tell her she is loved. No matter what Minnie says, it doesn't work and the Orb of Friendship falls from the pillar. Once witnessing this scene, Luna is dragged out of the portal to the present time, back in her own body and with a new memory.

Fairy Godmother asks what she saw, and Luna tells her how she felt everything that The Forgotten had felt. How Selene had lost her excitement for life and stopped sharing her feelings. The Fairy Godmother tells her how she's afraid that the key to stopping the Forgotten is tied to more of these unpleasant memories. Luna admits how she understands her sister better, having felt her loneliness and frustration. If anything, her resolve stronger to learn everything she can to help Selene and the valley.

A new portal appears and Fairy Godmother warily says how she feels strong emotions coming from the portal. Whatever happened had left great anger and betrayal. Luna has a bad feeling about it, but is determined to keep pushing forward. She enters the next portal where she is once again transported back in time and into the body of The Forgotten.

Forgotten Memories: Trust
Luna finds herself in the Glade of Trust where she runs into Gothel, who accuses Merlin of lying about the Power of the Pillar of Trust. Luna tries to stop herself from going along with it, internally screaming that Gothel is trying to manipulate The Forgotten/Selene. She is left feeling helpless when Gothel convinces The Forgotten to remove the orb from the pillar and is forced to rip it out.

Gothel says she will "take care of the orb" and takes it off The Forgotten's hands. Out of nowhere, she asks them to look for her Jewel-Encrusted Mirror that she dropped in the water. While Luna follows through with this task, Gothel returns to her cauldron, located at the bottom of the Giant Willow in the center of the Glade.

After some fishing, Luna discovers the mirror with the glass smashed. She is overcome with anger - that of The Forgotten/Selene and her own. She confronts Gothel, who admits she lied and tells her to stop taking everything so seriously. She goes on to say  how she always wondered if The Forgotten's Dreamlight magic worked the same way as Rapunzel's hair. Gothel says with the orb gone, there's nothing stopping her from locking Selene away in the Giant Willow to "keep her safe". However, when Gothel attempts to trap her, The Forgotten/Selene used her Dreamlight magic to counter Gothel's spell, locking her away along with her curse that threatened to harm Dreamlight Valley.

The scene that plays out ends with Luna returning to the present once more with another memory. Upon seeing Luna's outraged expression, the Fairy Godmother asks what on earth she saw this time. Luna angrily says Gothel betrayed Selene and tried to lock her away like  she had Rapunzel. She begins to understand why Selene has trust issues and is hostile to not only Gothel - but all the villains in the valley.

With one memory remaining, the final portal opens. Fairy Godmother warns Luna how what happened next is what changed Selene into who she is now.  Regardless, Luna doesn't blame her sister for anything and believes everything that followed was out of Selene's control. She takes a deep breath to prepare herself and enters the final portal.
