Outwardly, Akari seems like the innocent, quiet, and lonely type: She often comments about being sleepy and her way of speaking makes her seem airheaded... Which she still is. The moment you start talking to her, though, she can be VERY offputting. Going at her own pace, she makes cuttingly observant remarks and plays pranks on people she sees as interesting, and can read other people like a book. It's very frightening.
Beneath it all, though, she really is a pleasant person if you don't mind her oddities. She knows just what to say and do to help someone out, and she is all of her friend's resident gate to yurei and the paranormal world, what with her dad being a kannushi and all. (As long as she can actually TALK to the guy, anyway.)

Osomatsu-kun: Childhood

Akari doesn't meet the Matsunos while they're kids, but there is an AU for it! She's much more quiet and reserved than she is when she's older, preferring to read books or play by herself. MUCH scarier, and barely talks unless it's to get something she wants. Can and will beat you up if necessary. Nevertheless, she sticks around both Totoko and the Matsunos because they're "the most interesting around these parts." She doesn't completely mean that, of course: She's a kid who's never had friends before and is stuck in her parent's shrine all day, she doesn't know how to handle liking people! She's a tsundere! The Matsunos very much like talking to her, mostly so they can mess with spirits.

Osomatsu-san: Highschool

Canonically, this is when Akari first gets a glimpse at the sextuplets at the school's welcoming ceremony, and she's instantly interested in them. Not romantically or anything, but as a source of free entertainment! Akari is quieter than she is as an adult, with black hair and bangs that cover her eyes. Personality is still the same, just a little scarier! She is very much capable of ruining your social life-- Not on purpose, she just states what's on her mind, and that can sometimes happen to be things you're trying to hide.
Totoko befriends her first, and only really started talking to the sextuplets in the final half of their first year, specifically to Ichimatsu. More details in relationships below. Very much acted like glue keeping them all together, though she was very unaware of that role (haha)

Osomatsu-san: Adulthood

She drops out of her college in America and moves back to Akatsuka ward! Broke, jobless, and would be shunned by her parents if she moved back into the family shrine, she tries to visit a friend... Which just so happened to be Choromatsu, and she ends up moving into the Matsuno household for a bit while she gets her bearings! Reawakens some old feelings in all parties involved.
Akari eventually moves out into her own apartment, and has some on-and-off jobs she got with her experience in America and half-finished astrophysics degree.

RELATIONSHIPS

Osomatsu

akari is VERY entertained by osomatsu's perverted flirting, and enjoys one-upping him and catching him off guard. this dynamic didn't change much even after high school, a familiarity that akari treasures deeply (she hates change, after all.)

Karamatsu

First met in high school through Ichimatsu, and they often ate lunch together. Out of all the brothers, she was definitely nicest to him, a fun dichotomy for the rest of them where they thought Akari was scary in high school but Karamatsu just remembers her being sweet and supportive. She picked up on his lighter aura and understood he wasn't outwardly malicious LMAO...
So she is SUPER happy to see him "confident" when they're adults! Wow, so forward, that's improvement! ^_^ Which flusters him LOL. But she understands that this is a front he puts up for his own sake, and reiterates that she's a place he can confide in its fun :)

Choromatsu

Shared a class in their second and third years of high school, and the rest of the sextuplets view the two of them to be the closest out of all of them ("we need to keep those two APART.") You don't really expect it either because they seem so DISSIMILIAR. But Akari LOVES making fun of him looking at porn in class, he's SUCH an easy target. And also they loiter in the manga section of the bookstore after school and talk nerdy shit + cry about not being able to afford the anime figurines. You can't explain being besties it just happens ^_^

Ichimatsu

Met him first, out of all the sextuplets. (Ichi likes to think they have a special connection because of it.) She sees through the image he starts putting up in his second year, and he doesn't bother to force himself with her. They eat lunch on the stairs with Karamatsu and pet the cat who loiters around the school before class.

Jyushimatsu

Their relationship was very strange in high school, being another duo that seem like they have nothing to do with each other. ok ill summarize this better later: see each other outside of school all the time, akari is fascinated by the front he's putting up and jyushi is wondering why this girl is spending so much time in weird places during and after school when she looks like a good kid. also akari ends up doing favors for him and finding things he's lost so yeah ^_^

Todomatsu

Treated Todomatsu like a little baby to take care of in high school, which ABSOLUTELY haunts him when they meet again as adults. Akari understood why Todomatsu adopted a childish persona in high school with the rest of his brothers quickly isolating themselves, but still found herself teasing him and calling him "her little monster." (He was very sneaky at times, a factoid that amused her.)

Totoko

Very close, with the both of them being the first friends they made in high school. Their relationship was initially very fake, with Totoko only sticking around Akari because she wanted an "easy loner target that would look up to her"... They quickly became friends when Akari kept betraying this perception Totoko had of her, and became a soure of comfort to her.
Akari thinks Totoko is pretty, and very funny! They can tell each other a lot. Akari knows why Totoko acts so high and mighty and stand offish to others, and while her reasons aren't an excuse for her asshole behavior, she's a recluse Totoko finds herself depending on (no matter how much Totoko tells herself that their relationship is moreso the other way around.)

Her Parents

her dad is very strict and a little traditionalistic, while her mom is more accepting. her dad does not take well to her dropping out of school and being jobless without telling him. He babies her a lot and kept her away from other people because of her autism, and only let her go to Akatsuka High in normal classes after begging and passing her high school exam. Akari SUPER resents him for this, obviously. Her mom used to be much of the same, but she gets it more now.
She'd love for her dad to come to an understanding with her, and to see that she's not the useless kid he thinks she is. I mean, he began to understand and love her mom's heritage and feelings, so he can change for the better, right? It just takes effort and time that she does NOT want to go through with him right now, so she's actively avoiding him.
