never takes off his mask because his face is misshapen and he is ashamed of himself, also he doesn't want to possibly scare anyone.
ayato is cursed and sucks life out of everyone who spends time with him, he can't control this and accidentally killed his parents. this is why ayato spends most of his time alone and never engages in long lasting friendships.
plays the violin and is very good at it. he is sometimes seen playing alone at night on the rooftop of the house where he lives in. his violin is his only companion.
