In a land torn by civil war, wandering swordsmen sworn to no lord are a common sight. Some prey on travellers while others offer their blades at a price. Some honor no code aside from that of coin, while others value honor above all else. Among such a varied crowd, there is one thing that unites all the wandering swordsmen across the islands of Inazuma: their respect for the gifted samurai known as the Ronin Shogun.

Yayoi claims no family name, but needs none to strike fear and awe into those who witness him at his craft. A true master of the blade, Yayoi turns any fight into an elegant dance with the katana. Every move deliberate and effortless, every strike precise and efficient. Many foes have stood against him, and all have fallen to the rhapsody in thorns. Undefeated and fearless, Yayoi's name and legend pervade all the islands of the nation. He stands in direct opposition to the Raiden Shogun, and yet she makes no move against him. Even so, neither does he ally himself with the rebels of Watatsumi Island. This staunch neutrality only serves to further his mythos.

Beneath his flirtatiousness and social graces, Yayoi hides his ancient age and true power - that of an elemental and enlightened beast, a cryo dragon born with the islands of Inazuma themselves. He's traveled the world and seen more than anyone could imagine (anyone perhaps, save that of a particular ancient adeptus turned archon turned funeral parlor consultant). Yayoi's heart has experienced every emotion, every movement under the sun, and now he spends his time enjoying the fleeting moments rather than striving for the grand motions.

Even so, he cannot ignore the machinations of evil, especially as they tear at his precious Inazuma. And so he has offered what talents he has to a promising Snezhnayan rebel by the name of Ilya. His work with the resistance has dragged him once more into the spotlight, and into adventures unknown...
