Josie Darby

Josie Halle Darby is a 6th-generation soapmaker and heiress to her family’s company, Darby Soap. The company was established in 1877 in Houston, Texas. It narrowly escaped bankruptcy during the Great Depression and went on to be one of the manufacturers of soap for the US military in World War II until the 1970s. Darby Soap now specializes in coconut oil soap.

Josie helps make her family’s soap from coconut oil, lye, and water. She wears a dull red apron as she oversees the machines in her family’s soap factory. Different soap molds are used by the company, such as shells, stars, and even smartphones. Some Darby soap bars are hand-made and given premium scents for a higher price. The temperature in the Darby factory can reach 100 degrees easily, so Josie dresses lightly, wearing only her apron and a pair of sandals. Josie also sometimes does deliveries throughout Texas. Darby Soap is a large and respected company. Their factory can produce 11,000 soap bars per day and uses up to 10 percent of all coconut oil in Houston. The corporate colors are red and pastel pink.

The Darby family and their company are well-off. Josie owns a Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Eternity Edition watch, which retails for about $14,800, and only 88 were made. She also owns multiple Gucci and Prada items. Josie is also able to afford her dream garage. Her two best, most expensive cars are her Lamborghini Centenario (3 million $), and her McLaren P1 with Darby Soap livery. Josie had wanted to buy a Lamborghini Veneno, but the only 3 of these ever made were already sold out, so she decided on the Centenario. Josie’s cheapest car is her pink Lotus Evora 410 Sport.

Josie Darby has one sister, Skylar, who is 2 years her junior. Skylar is also involved in running her family’s soap empire, but not to the same degree is Josie. Skylar is trying to find an Australian man to marry. Josie also has a Boston terrier who is blind in one eye.  Her name is Clover.
