About

CW: Death, Murder, Betrayal, Rebirth, Ghosts

Once upon a time, Valor had a different name, and a different life. Long ago, she was one among a team of knights, sworn to protect their kingdom and all of the Pokémon within it. She had been trained from a young age to be able to defend, as well as to work in a team, and to value the life, safety, and happiness of those who relied on her. She took great pride as she grew older, in performing her duties well, and she came to love the people she defended. Most dear to her was her team, and most of all, her mentor. Her mentor was also a knight, from the Old Guard, who had trained her as well as several of her teammates. She felt they owed her mentor everything, for he was the one who taught them honor, and virtue, as the core pillars of strength. Even as the world grew more complicated, and enemies pressed their borders, Valor and her team were strong and resolute.

However, at that time, she didn’t realize how complex the world had become. Treachery was the last thing she suspected. When her life came to an end, it was with a sudden, sharp pain in her back. Her last memories were of begging her mentor, “why”, as he scoffed and told her even her own team had abandoned her to be erased by him. To what end, she would never learn.

When she woke again, it was in a very different time. The place where she had fallen had changed, and since been dubbed the Sweetful Isles. She herself had changed to, into a new form unrecognizable to her. Luckily she wasn’t the first ghost type Pokémon to wake up alone and confused. The kind Pokémon of Hershey took her in. While she wasn’t really a child, a family took her in none the less. They were patient and forgiving with her, eventually taking to calling her Valor (both because she could not recall her name from before, as well as a nod to the stories she would recall to them of fragments of her past life.) They watched after her for a couple of years, helping her learn about the new world No times she lived in, which were vastly different from her old life. However, Valor would never fully settle into life with her new family. The betrayal of her old mentor and team left a mark on her heart, and she found it difficult to trust them even after all they’d done for her.

So, once she had her bearings, she resolved to leave, and search the world for her old mentor and team, certain that the reason she was reborn was to seek out justice for her terminal betrayal. But she would need something to keep her steady. That was when the kind residents of Hershey directed her to the GCSF, certain that her honor and skill would be valuable to any of the teams there. Still leery, Valor spoke to teams somewhat at random before meeting the leaders of Lands End. They seemed sketchy at best, with one of their leaders clearly being a pirate. She decided that with them, at least, she could see a betrayal coming from miles away, and in the meantime, she could help aid in honest rescue work.
