He appears in the minds of children who have just suffered a great loss, hence his simple, almost childish design.
He can briefly appear in the physical world, but only if the child really needs it.
Many assume him to be a trickster, but truthfully he just wants to comfort children.
He appears as a different plush or blanket (like these or just a blanket with an owl pattern) to every child, but a few key things remain the same: He has dark purple eyes, a purple and/or red pallete, and a blue marking on his forehead (and size, shape, or shade)
He can be any species of owl, or a more cartoonish or fantastical owl.
